Complete List of Rory McIlroy Golf Clubs

What Golf Clubs Does Rory McIlroy Use?

Rory McIlroy is currently signed to TaylorMade to use the brand’s clubs, ball and golf bag. Rory initially signed this deal back in 2017 as his previous club sponsor, Nike, pulled out of the club market at the end of 2016 and released all staff players. Rory played without a club sponsor from the end of 2016 until May of 2017 when TaylorMade scooped him up along with Tiger Woods and a few others.

Ever since signing with TaylorMade in 2017, Rory has used a handful of the brand’s new clubs in tournament play. Rory has won 7 times on the PGA Tour since signing with TaylorMade and actually just signed an extension with the brand in 2022 to continue using their clubs, ball and bag.

Rory plays the brand new TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver, along with a Stealth Plus 3 and 5 wood. He uses a P790 3 iron and Rors Proto irons that were built specifically for him. His wedges are TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 and rounding out his bag is a TaylorMade Spider X Hydro Blast putter.

Check out all of his clubs in more detail below.

Driver: TaylorMade Stealth Plus

Rory, along with a lot of the other TaylorMade ambassadors, has the brand new TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver in the bag. He went back and forth between the SIM2 Max and SIM2 drivers in 2021, but moved over to the new carbon faced driver in 2022 and plans to use it for the entire season. This is the same model that Tiger Woods, Collin Morikawa and Dustin Johnson are currently using on the PGA Tour.

The Stealth line of drivers released this year on February 4th, 2022 and has quickly grown popular among PGA golfers. The 60x Carbon Twist Face is allowing golfers even faster ball speeds than before with the ball exploding off the face. The use of carbon in the driver head allows for a faster swing speed and better weight distribution in the club head.

Rory McIlroy is one of the farthest hitters on Tour, always near the top of average distance off the tee. The new Stealth driver definitely seems to be working for him.

Rory has the 9 degree version of this golf club and it is equipped with a Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shaft and a Golf Pride MCC grip.

Fairway Woods: TaylorMade Stealth Plus (3 and 5 wood)

Along with the Stealth Plus driver, Rory McIlroy is also using the new TaylorMade Stealth Plus 3 and 5 woods. The 3-wood is 15 degrees and the 5-wood is 19 degrees. The 3-wood is equipped with a Fujikura Ventus Black 8 X Shaft and the 5-wood has a Fujikura Ventus Black 9 X shaft installed.

Rory does occasionally switch out the 5-wood from his bag for a 2 iron or rescue hybrid, depending on the course he is playing and what he is feeling comfortable with at the time.

The new Stealth Plus fairway woods are completely redesigned for boosted confidence and ball striking. The face of these woods are now 12% larger than the previous SIM2 woods. They include the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket, which helps maximize ball speeds and provide maximum forgiveness on mishits.

Rory McIlroy has Golf Pride MCC grips installed on both of his fairway woods.

Irons: TaylorMade P790 (3 iron) & TaylorMade Rors Proto (4-PW)

Rory McIlroy carries with him a TaylorMade P790 3-iron, alongside his regular set of irons. The 3 iron can be used in many different situations on the golf course, both off the tee or on the fairway. Rory sometimes feels more confident hitting this off the tee than his woods. The 3-iron is equipped with a Fujikura Ventus Black HB 10 X shaft and a Golf Pride MCC grip.

Rory’s regular iron set right now is the TaylorMade Rors Proto and they are 4 iron through pitching wedge. Out of all of his clubs, his blade irons are what he has switched out the most. He played P7MB’s and also had a set of P730s before that. His most recent set is a prototype iron set made specifically for him.

They were part of a custom series of irons that TaylorMade had created for Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose as well. Each golfer just had slightly altered lofts, length and grind. You won’t be able to purchase these exact irons in store, however the closest you will get are the TaylorMade P790 irons.

On his irons, he has Project X Rifle 7.0 shafts installed and a Golf Pride MCC grip as well.

Wedges: TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 (54 degree & 58 degree)

54-Degree Wedge

58-Degree Wedge

Rory McIlroy used to carry the TaylorMade MG2 wedges, however recently this year upgraded to the MG3 wedges. Rory carries just a 54 and 58 degree wedge in his bag. They are both the “High Bounce” version with the 54 degree having 13 degrees bounce and the 58 degree having 12 degree bounce.

Rory has sometimes carried a 48 degree wedge in his bag, but at the moment just carries the two.

The new MG3 wedges have a sharper and narrower groove design, which allows for even more greenside spin. You can get them in a Chrome or Black finish, but Rory has preferred the standard Chrome finish.

Rory’s wedges are equipped with Project X Rifle 6.5 shafts and Golf Price MCC grips.

Putter: TaylorMade Spider X Hydro Blast

Rory used to be a pure blade style putter, but over the past couple of years he has experimented with many different kinds of putters. At the 2021 Olympics, he was using a Scotty Cameron 009M blade putter, but went back to the Spider X Hydro Blast for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Rory has openly said that he does need a little more forgiveness in the putter and that is why he will be keeping the mallet head Spider putter.

The TaylorMade Spider line of putters are very popular on the PGA Tour with many golfers using them. It is no surprise that Rory finds this to be the most forgiving putter. TaylorMade has their patented Pure Roll face insert, which places the grooves at a 45 degree angle to encourage a nice forward roll. The sound off the face is also very crisp.

Rory has his putter equipped with a SuperStroke Pistol GT Tour grip.

What Golf Balls Does Rory McIlroy Use?

Rory McIlroy is currently playing a TaylorMade TP5X golf ball with “Rors” stamped on the side. This is one of TaylorMade’s newer models. It is advertised as TaylorMade’s fastest ball speed and high launch ball, which is exactly what PGA Tour pros are looking for on the course.

Its mix of tour performance and spin allows it to be one of the most popular balls used on tour today.
