2023 Callaway Supersoft Overview
The 2023 Callaway Supersoft golf balls is a two-piece golf ball and one of the most popular balls that Callaway offers.
The reason they are so popular is due to a couple of reasons.
The Supersoft is a very soft-feeling golf ball with a very low compression rate. With its low spin, you have a ball that is made to travel far distances. The golf ball is great for casual golfers who want good distance, but don’t want to pay a lot of money.
Callaway also brought back several color variations available, which is great for golfers who like hitting different colored golf balls.
Callaway created a new HyperElastic SoftCast Core, which replaces the old Compression Core in the previous balls. They optimized this new core to allow for faster ball speeds and a better feel around the green. The 2023 Callaway ERC Soft is a three-piece golf ball. The original was initially released in 2019, so this is the fifth variation of it. Because it is a three-piece ball, it has a few differences from the Supersoft balls.
The ERC Soft is Callaway’s longest golf ball available from their lineup. New to the ERC Soft this year is the introduction of a new GRIP Urethane Coating and high-speed mantle. The mantle is the middle layer of this three-piece ball.
Like the Supersoft, the ERC Soft has the new HyperElastic SoftFast Core and Hybrid Cover, will have the golf ball exploding off the face of the club and finding more fairways.

High-Speed Mantle

Triple Track Dagger Technology
The three-line alignment is the same as previous generations of Callaway ERC Soft golf ball. Callaway calls this their Triple Track Technology.

Number of Layers
The Supersoft is a two-piece golf ball, while the ERC Soft is a three-piece golf ball. The difference with the three-piece is the addition of the high-speed mantle, which is the casing of the core.
The mantle allows for a faster ball speed, more than a two-piece ball, and helps to add distance to every single shot. If you were to hit both balls with the exact same swing, you will notice further distances with the ERC Soft.
Compression Rating
The compression rating on the Callaway Supersoft golf balls is only 38, which is incredibly low compared to other balls. The 2022 version of the Supersoft had a compression rating of 50. The fact that the compression rating is so low means that even slow-swing-speed golfers will find a higher launch and ball speed when hitting the Supersoft golf ball.
The compression rating on the ERC Soft is quite a bit higher, coming in at 60. Although it is not as soft as the Supersoft golf balls, it still has incredible ball speed and launch due to the construction of the three-piece ball. Due to the two-piece construction and goal of being one of the softest golf balls on the market, the Callaway Supersoft will always be at the top of spin charts compared to other balls. Spin and control have increased compared to last year’s model, and also compared to similar soft golf balls.
With the ERC Soft, Callaway says that it has added about 400 rpm more spin than the previous model – this is a 10-15% increase. The increase in spin is partly due to the addition of the GRIP Urethane coating, which helps to increase the spin on every single shot.
A higher RPM will allow the ball to launch into the air easier.

The 2023 Callaway ERC Soft comes in Triple Track White and Triple Track Yellow. They are available for $39.99 per dozen, which is quite a bit more expensive than the Supersoft. That is due to the extra constructions costs of a three-piece ball.
