If you don’t know much about the technical aspects of golf, it’s much harder to have a good time on the course. You’re probably hitting the ball from odd angles and you’re struggling to keep your shots on the green.

Following the optimum swing plane according to your size and club is essential if you want to drive the ball on the green. It’s also important if you want to get as much distance as possible with each shot.

Let’s find out if it’s perhaps because of your swing that you’re having a hard time finding games at your country club.

What is a Swing Plane?

Swing plane refers to a flat surface that defines the angle and path of the club swing. There are two of these imaginary planes: the backswing and the downswing. Depending on your technique, your swing can be flat, upright, or on plane.

Ok, but why is it important? Fixing your swing plane is important if you don’t want to hit hook or slice shots. Golf is all about technique, from your stance to hitting the ball in the right spot, depending on the situation.

For example, if you hit the ball flat this usually means that the club is pointing towards the outside of the target line, which is how you give your ball an in-to-out spin.

If you hit a backswing, or upright, the head of the club will hit the ball out-to-in. In-to-out swings often result in hook shots while out-to-in hits result in pulled or sliced shots.

In order to hit a straight shot, the club has to be on plane during the downswing. That will cause the head to go straight down the imaginary target line and hit the ball dead-on.

It’s important to know that although the technique is the same, each golfer has his own personal swing plane. This is because the angles are determined by the player’s size and the club used. Therefore, in order to find the sweet spot, you might want to start honing your technique by practicing your downswing in different situations.

One way to do this is by using a golf swing plane trainer. This type of practice tool comes in various shapes and sizes. Here are a few variations for you to look into.

Elbow Straps

Beginner golfers often have problems with coordinating all their limbs. There are so many moving parts to account for at all times. An easy way to start addressing your swing plane issues is to use an elastic strap that can help you maintain the proper form.

Most of these trainers are stretchy and are designed to keep the back elbow close to the body during the swing. The end result is better mechanics and considerably more distance in your shots. The cool thing about elbow strap plane trainers is that they can be used by right- and left-handed golfers alike.

Headcover or Pool Noodle Drills

The noodle drill is one of the best things to do if you want to fix your swing plane. Here’s how it works. First, you have to put an alignment stick into the ground. Make sure it’s sticking out at a 45-degree angle. Attach a headcover or a pool noodle over it.

For the perfect setup, make sure that the end of the pool noodle obstructs your regular swing, but not too much. Set it so that it makes contact with the top of the wrist. From this position, take a step towards the target.

You’ll notice that on the upswing your hands usually pass below the pool noodle. On your downswing they’re likely to make contact with the noodle if you have a bad swing. Your goal is to make sure you don’t make contact with the noodle when you swing back or down.

The advantage of pool noodle drills is that you don’t even have to buy any special equipment. Just look over some specs online and then make your own DIY noodle with a straight stick, pipe, and some foam.

Golf Swing Tempo Trainers

Another interesting golf swing plane trainer is the elbow tempo trainer. This device is strapped around your elbow in an attempt to keep it straighter during the swing. The feedback is in the form of a sound alert.

When you’re losing your form the device emits a sound to let you know your swing is not ideal. If you keep your lead elbow extension as you should, the device usually remains silent. Most of these tempo trainers can be used on both elbows and come in one size with plenty of adjustability.

All-in-One Trainers

Sometimes you don’t need to actually hit the ball to fix your swing; you can just get a club swing trainer. There are a few variations from different manufacturers but the mechanics behind these trainers remain the same.

You’ll be replacing your golf club with a weirdly angled and heavier golf club. Remember, this isn’t made for hitting golf balls. These are made to improve grip, stance, strength, extension, tempo, etc.

The way they work is that by using such a trainer for a couple of minutes or hours each day, they help develop your muscle memory. Therefore, when you' actually have a proper golf club in your hands, you’ll be inclined to mimic the grip, stance, and swing that you had with the trainer.

The trainers force you to maintain proper technique and that’s how muscle memory starts to develop. Just be aware that these trainers tend to be a bit more expensive since they work on all aspects of your game, not just your swing plane.

A Final Word

We’ve only listed a couple of our favorite swing plane trainers but there are so many more options out there. In order to get the best value for your money, make sure to get a trainer that you can actually use anywhere and at any time.

If you do that you’ll be able to quickly correct your swing plane and impress your buddies on the course. Just remember that not all trainers cover swing plane exercises so read the descriptions carefully before you get yours.

Garmin Approach G6

The Garmin Approach G6 is one of a long line of products from the “Approach” Family of Garmin Golf GPS. While the G6 may be a bit older than some of the other devices from the same family, it is one of the best Golf GPS you can find, as you are about to see.

The Garmin G6 provides many features golfers will love. An example is the vibrant and detailed LCD screen, which clearly displays yardage and course details to help you with your game on over 25,000 available courses. The device is good to be used rain or shine, as it sports a waterproof design that some of the newer models will lack.

garmin golf gps reviews

In addition to having a display to show you distances on the course, the G6 also provides some interesting extras, including a scorecard that can help you track scores for a number of match choices. The GPS also include a shot measurement feature, which is designed to help you better your game by measuring the distance of your shots with various clubs.

You may be wondering what sets this one apart from models such as the G7 or G8, which are newer and feature much of the same functionality. Well, outside of the waterproof design mentioned above, the G6 gives you all the great features of the newer models but at a much more affordable price point, coming in at around the $170 mark. (As opposed to nearly $300 for the newer models.)

The issue with the G6 seems to be its ability to track your golf ball while in play, which it does not always do accurately. This issue seems to occur randomly without any real idea as to why it can happen, but when it does it can lead to some inaccurate readings which could hamper your game a bit.

This issue occurs rarely enough that it shouldn't be something that hampers a decision to purchase. If you decide to go with the Garmin Approach G6, you will be certain to get a golf GPS that can help you to substantially improve your golf game.

Things We Liked

  • Waterproof design
  • Tracks score and shot measurement

Things We Didn't Like

  • Sometimes inaccurate tracking

Garmin Approach G10

The Garmin Approach G10, the next item on our list, may not appear to have much to it at a glance. Don't let that false exterior fool you, though, as this GPS is a beast on the inside.

Using a digital LCD display, the G10 can show give you course information like no other GPS can. Using a fast speed GPS receiver, a golfer can identify the distance to the pin or any hazards on almost any course that they may be playing on.

Garmin-Approach-G10

To help you to even further enhance your game, that G10 has a comprehensive stat tracking feature. This feature will let you know the statistics for your round of golf, including GIR and fairway hits, and helps you determine how well and how accurate you are playing.

The G10 is also one of Garmin's cheaper options for GPS, coming in at just under $100. While you do get a great deal for the money, this cost comes at the expense of certain features found in other Garmin products, such as full course view and color screens.

In my opinion, those features aren't even missed considering everything you get with the Garmin G10. With great performance at a value price that cannot be beat, there is no reason not to love the Garmin Approach G10.

Things We Liked

  • Affordable
  • Compact design
  • High sensitivity GPS receiver

Things We Didn't Like

  • Lack of certain features

Garmin S20 Golf GPS Watch

We are obviously here today to talk about Garmin golf GPS, but who doesn't like a few bonuses thrown in? If you are like me and you like a little bit extra from your device, then the Garmin S20 GPS Watch is for you.

This watch is designed to give you all the information that you want from your golf game right from your wrist. This information includes yards to the green and auto-updating shot analyzing and stat tracking, which helps you to modify and improve your golf game.

Garmin-Approach-S20

As we said before, this watch comes loaded with a ton of bonus features that can be used outside the fairways. Features such as a calorie and step counter can help you to shed a few extra pounds, while syncing the watch to your smartphone allows you to get notifications from your phone sent right to your watch.

Some of these features, while cool, may seem a bit frivolous to some users who just want a normal GPS for use in golf. These features also serve to bump up the price a bit with the S20, so if you don't want to spend the extra for services you may not even use, you'll want to pass on this.

The Garmin S20 GPS watch is certainly a high-tech item, giving you tons of bang for your buck. With the ever-changing world that we live in, there is always new technology around the corner. With the Garmin S20 on your wrist, however, you will be sure to always be ahead of the curve.

Things We Liked

  • Auto-updating shot analyzing
  • Stat tracking

Things We Didn't Like

  • Frivolous features

Garmin Approach S6 GPS Golf Watch

While there are many golf GPS watches that one can choose from, the watches made by Garmin are a cut above the rest. They prove exactly why with the Approach S6 Golf GPS watch.

The S6 sports a vivid, full-color touchscreen that shows the layout of the course. This touchscreen is very easy to read, with sunlight not effecting the readability, and can easily be used even if you are wearing a pair of golf gloves.

golf gps watch reviews

Not only will you be given accurate yardage readouts from your ball to the green, but the S6's “Pinpointer” technology provides you assistance when you can't see the pin, pointing you in the right direction from any potential blind spot. For even further assistance with your golf game, the S6 has a strength and tempo tracker, which gives you a read on the power of your swings, allowing you to adjust accordingly.

Not all is perfect with the watch, however, as all these features can make setup and use a bit complex. This has caused some users some frustration with a watch that is in nearly every other way flawless.

If you ever wanted to get a stylish watch that can help you with your golf game, then this is what you are looking for. Providing help with distances and your swing game, the Garmin Approach S6 is a GPS watch that no golfer can afford to go without.

Things We Liked

  • Pinpointer and touch-targeting
  • Strength and tempo tracker

Things We Didn't Like

  • Relatively expensive

Garmin Approach G30

The Garmin Approach G30 is the newest item that we will be reviewing today, being released in early 2017. Seeing as this is the newest offering by the GPS giant Garmin, you can expect it to be loaded with the latest in technology.

The vibrant 2.3-inch color touchscreen of the G30 allows the user to see accurate yardage on up to 40,000 pre-loaded courses. Using the unit's “touch targeting” feature, the golfer in question can target any point on the course and get an accurate reading as to how far they are from their objective.

Garmin-Approach-G30

As accurate as any GPS can be, it can't always accommodate for subtle changes to the course such as pin location. Thankfully with the G30's “Green View” feature, golfers can look at the green they are playing and edit the location of the pin, giving the golfer greater accuracy.

If this wasn't enough for you, the Garmin G30 can even help track other aspects of your game. This includes stat tracking, as well as reading the speed and tempo of your swings, allowing you to practice swings for the best results.

As of now, there is nothing bad to say about the Garmin Approach G30, so you can be certain that the G30 is a safe buy. And if you are looking for a device that is right at the forefront of Golf GPS technology, then the Garmin Approach G30 has got you covered!

Things We Liked

  • Touch-targeting and Greenview
  • Swing speed and tempo reader

Things We Didn't Like

Buying Factors for Best Garmin Golf GPS

Features

What makes Garmin products unique is their bevy of features that come included with the device. While you are guaranteed to get a quality GPS with each product above, some of them come with many extras, such as score cards and even calorie counters, that anybody could love.

These features are not for everybody, however. While they are certainly not a bad thing, some people might not like all the extra fluff or the extra cost that can come with it.

Before buying, you'll want to look for what features you want and which you can do without. No matter what you are looking for, Garmin is sure to have a GPS that matches your needs.

Watch vs. Handheld

As with other GPS brands, the Garmin line of golf GPS offer options for either small handheld devices, or wearable wristwatch devices. Both of these can have their advantages or disadvantages, depending on the golfer.

For example, while having the wristwatch design can be more convenient, with you having all the information you need with you at all times, some people may not like the feeling of a watch on their wrist, and the display can sometimes be harder to read. In contrast, a handheld device can give you a better display for information, but it also may be more of a hassle having to dig into your bag or pocket whenever you want to look at the device.

You'll have to weigh what kind of GPS suits you best before purchasing. This way you can avoid regretting your decision if you buy a GPS that you may find harder to use.

VS. Other Brands

While Garmin may be a well-known name for GPS devices, it is actually the accuracy of their GPS that is their biggest weak point. While by no means terrible, Garmin devices seem to lack a bit of the pin-point accuracy that its competitors have, especially in terms of tracking ball position.

Unlike its competitors, and as mentioned above, Garmin really excels in the area of extra features. With anything from scorecards to stat trackers, the Garmin devices give golfers probably what is closest to an all-in-one device that they can get.

If you are looking for golf GPS that can give you more than the average GPS, you will want to look no further than a Garmin.

Bushnell is one of the pioneers in outdoor sporting equipment. From gear such as binoculars and scopes for rifles, to more technologically advanced items such as cameras, there exist a Bushnell product for almost every outdoor needs.

For all the cutting-edge products that Bushnell creates, perhaps some of their best is their line of Golf GPS. These tools will help a golfer to get accurate reads of the course they are playing, and help them to better their golf game.

These tools can drastically improve your game, giving you essential information when you need it most. If you ever needed that extra edge in competition against your friends or in a tournament, then you may want to consider buying one of these products.

Seeing as Bushnell is an industry leader in golf GPS devices, they have a pretty big number of items to choose from. To help you find the cream of the crop, we present you with five of Bushnell's best golf GPS that you can buy right now.

Our Best Bushnell Golf GPS Pick: Bushnell White Hybrid GPS/Laser Rangefinder

best bushnell golf gps

The Bushnell White Hybrid GPS/Laser Rangefinder combines the best of both worlds to give everything you'll need on the course: yardages, distances, readings, hole and course recognition, hazards details etc. It comes pre-loaded with over 30000 courses and no membership fees in most countries.

Best Bushnell Golf GPS Reviews 2018

Bushnell Neo Ghost Golf GPS

While the Bushnell brand name is known for many technological advancements with their golf GPS, for this list we are going to start with something a little more basic. Basic isn't a bad thing, however, as you will soon find out with our first product, the Bushnell Neo Ghost golf GPS.

The Neo uses a very basic LCD screen to tell you more information about the course you are on, including total yards of a hole and your current distance to the pin.

bushnell golf gps reviews

This information can help you to know what kind of power to use on your shots, allowing you to do so even in tournament play with the Neo being completely tournament legal.

The Neo comes pre-loaded with over 30,000 of the worlds golf courses, meaning that you almost always will be able to get a read on whatever course you play, anywhere in the world. In addition to this, the Neo has the ability to automatically detect which course you are on and has auto-hole advancement, keeping your GPS up to date and your hands free.

Great in terms of usability, the Neo does falter a bit when it comes to longevity. While the devices battery life is serviceable, the unit itself will sometimes start to fail after a few months of use, meaning that you may need to replace this GPS sooner than you would like. Luckily the warranty of this device can cover you should the worst happen, allowing you to easily replace your item within a year.

While you can't completely overlook its faults, the Neo Ghost is more than serviceable for a golf GPS. With accurate yardage anywhere on the course and a price that cannot be beat, the Bushnell Neo Ghost is a gamble that is worth taking.

Things We Liked

  • Auto course recognition and auto hole advance
  • Most affordable

Things We Didn't Like

  • The longevity is short

Bushnell Neo Ion Golf GPS Watch

Want an easy to use Golf GPS that is made to be even more convenient than a golf GPS already is? Then you, my friend, need to be introduced to Golf GPS watches such as our next product, the Bushnell Neo Ion Golf GPS Watch!

As you may be able to guess, the Neo Ion is a golf GPS that doubles as a wrist watch. This design allows you to have all the features of a normal golf GPS in a convenient, wearable package, with multiple color options available to match your personal style.

Bushnell-Neo-Ion-Golf-GPS-Watch

This GPS watch comes pre-loaded with 35,000 golf courses from over 30 countries, making this a GPS that you can use all over the world. In addition to giving you an accurate readout of multiple courses, the watch can also help you to keep track of up to four hazards per hole, giving you an advantage in avoiding pratfalls.

The downfall of this GPS has little to do with the Ion itself, but the rubber strap that is used for the watch. As can be the case with many watches that have rubber bands, the band can sometimes weaken easily. Should you exercise a bit of caution when putting on and removing the watch, then you can all but eliminate this small issue.

For all that it does, the Neo Ion is probably one of the best golf GPS out there. If you happen to be looking for a golf GPS that serves as a fashionable watch, on or off the course, then you have to buy yourself the Neo Ion.

Things We Liked

  • Fashionable watch design
  • Pre-loaded with over 35 000 courses

Things We Didn't Like

  • The rubber strap weakens easily

Bushnell XGC Golf GPS

The Bushnell XGC GPS is admittedly a bit on the ugly side, looking kind of like a cell phone from the early 2000s. While its appearance is sure to turn some people off, don't be so quick to judge, as the XGC Golf GPS is more than meets the eye.

The XGC has a beautiful full color LCD screen, which displays the overview of the hole you are on and whatever hazards there are. This screen can give you an accurate readout all the way from the front to the back of the green, allowing you to make accurate shots.

Bushnell-XGC-Golf-GPS

The XGC is able to update automatically while playing, and comes pre-loaded with 16,000 North American golf courses. While this may not be as many as some other GPS, the XGC makes up for it by being 100% legal for tournament play, giving you the edge in tough competition.

While the XGC is great for giving course readouts, it is lacking a bit in other features that some GPS have, such as score tracking and international golf courses. In addition to this is the fact that despite its simplicity, the XGC can be a bit complicated to use, making it a no go for those that may not be the most tech savvy.

Should you have the extra time to tinker with it, however, the Bushnell XGC is a joy to use. If you want a GPS that gives great and detailed layouts of most major North American courses, this GPS is the way to go.

Things We Liked

  • High-res full color LCD screen
  • Automatically calculates distance

Things We Didn't Like

  • Lacking in features

Bushnell Neo XS Golf GPS Watch

For those that prefer their golf GPS in the convenient and stylish form of a watch, Bushnell provides many different options. Another of said options is this GPS: the Neo XS.

The XS gives golfer clear to read details of the course, thanks to the XS' bold digital display. This display can be used to give golfers an accurate readout of up to 30,000 different courses from around the world, and automatically updates as you play.

Bushnell-Neo-XS-Golf-GPS-Watch

The XS is ready to use right out of the box, with the golfer able to just turn on the unit and be ready to go. Should you find that your course of choice isn't available on your watch, updating the unit is simple thanks to the included data sync/charge cable.

The battery life of the XS is amazing, able to last for up to three full rounds of golf. You may need to be careful if the battery becomes weak, however, as the display can become very faded and hard to read when the battery starts to die, so charging after each round or two is recommended.

To top it all off, the Neo XS has a very sleek and stylish design, as well as multiple color choices. This makes this product one that is a must have for nearly any golfer, being a GPS that can be used anywhere, anytime.

Things We Liked

  • Long battery life
  • Auto Course Recognition and Auto Hole Advance

Things We Didn't Like

  • Nothing really

Bushnell White Hybrid GPS/Laser Rangefinder

As great as a golf GPS is for your golf game, sometimes you may want something that is a little more versatile and gives you an edge like no other product. Enter the Bushnell Hybrid GPS/Laser Rangefinder.

As the name implies, this device can be used by golfers as either a GPS or a rangefinder, allowing the golfer to get the most precise readings possible on any course they play.

best bushnell golf gps

This combination of features is sure to give you the edge you are looking for, making it possible to detect everything that the course can possibly throw at you.

The GPS display is mounted on the side of the unit, and can give golfers clear yardage on up to 30,000 courses. When using the rangefinder feature, the scope can get a read of up to 1000 yards out, and can accurately detect the pin at up to 300 yards.

All these features come at a steep price unfortunately. At around $300 dollars, this GPS/Rangefinder is one of the more expensive items on our list, and not for those on a strict budget.

Even so, $300 dollars is a steal for all the benefit that you get from the Hybrid. If you ever found yourself in need of both a GPS and a Rangefinder, then this is the product of your dreams.

  • Auto Hole Advance and Auto Course Recognition

Buying Factors for Best Bushnell Golf GPS

Design

As we had talked about above, the Golf GPS that Bushnell has available can come in a range of designs. These designs range from pocket sized GPS, watches, and even the rangefinder/GPS combo.

Which design you choose depends on your own personal preference, and doesn't affect how the GPS operates. Even so, some of these designs, such as the watches, can be considered more convenient to some while others may be more cumbersome.

In contrast to this, some people may prefer having a handheld device for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that they usually have an easier to read display. Finding the right design fit for you is important, and will help you in getting a GPS that you are most comfortable using.

Battery

With any GPS, and not just those under the Bushnell umbrella, battery life is important. After all, is there anything worse than being in the middle of a match when your device's batteries go belly up, leaving you oblivious to the information that is essential to your game?

To prevent this, you will want to take note of each GPS' potential battery life. Being aware of a devices lifespan will help you to find a GPS that will stay kicking throughout the entirety of your match, never leaving you in the dark in the middle of a game.

Bushnell v.s Other Brands

Bushnell Golf GPS offers you a lot of the same features that you will get with some other competing brands. This includes giving golfers things such as accurate readouts of the course, targeting of hazards, and full color displays.

What they can offer you that is different from their competitors is the variety of their product designs. No matter which design you are looking for your GPS, from handhelds, watches, and even a rangefinder hybrid Bushnell is sure to have a product that meets your specification, making them a great choice for golfers that are not 100% sure what kind of design they are looking for.

Bushnell Tour V4

There are several products that we will be checking out today that fall under the Bushnell umbrella. So, to kick off this large list, we present one of the best products that Bushnell has put out to date with the Tour V4.

This rangefinder can help you find and tag hazards on the course from anywhere from five to 1000 feet. This will help you to always know exactly how far you are from a hazard at any given time, helping you to avoid potential perils.

bushnell golf rangefinders reviews

The Tour V4 also can help you track the pin from over 400 yards out, helping you to make the right club choice to make the green. To help guarantee accuracy, the V4 will emit a vibration that lets the golfer know that they are targeting the pin, letting you know exactly how far from the hole you are.

If you are a golfer that is looking to take the competition to the big leagues, then you will be ready with the Tour V4, which is 100% tournament legal. When playing these professional games, you will be guaranteed to be able to see far out across the fairways, thanks to the fast focusing 5x Magnification.

On the downside for the Tour V4 is the accuracy of the unit if you are not of steady hands. If your hands are steady, then you should be able to get accurate readings every time. However, should you be a little shaky, the V4 has trouble getting certain readings, which makes it hard to use.

Overall, the Bushnell Tour V4 is a great product that most golfers can get the most out of... but is also just scratching the surface of Bushnell brand rangefinders.

Things We Liked

  • Pinseeker with JOLT technology
  • Effective range of 400 yards
  • Tournament legal, pro certified

Things We Didn't Like

  • Not accurate in shaky hands

Bushnell Tour V3

The Bushnell Tour V3 is the previous model of the tour series, coming prior to the previous V4. As you might expect in this case, the product shares V3 shares a lot of similarities to its younger brother.

For example, you get roughly the same effective range as the V4, with a range of 10-1000 yards. You also get the same vibrating pin-seeker technology, which will vibrate the unit when you find the pin. While this feature is similar, the overall range of the pin-seeker is less, with an effective range up to only 300 yards.

best golf rangefinders

What the V3 does have that the V4 does not, however, is an automatically updating “SCAN” mode. This mode will update your distance from the pin or hazards automatically, which eliminates the need for additional scans of the course.

As is the case for many of Bushnell's “Tour” products, you will be ready to hit the course during a tournament with this rangefinder in hand, with the V3 being legal for tournament use. Any rangefinder could be the difference between victory or defeat during a tournament, so this will be sure to give you a leg up.

While maybe not as powerful as the V4 in some aspects, the Bushnell Tour V3 certainly has a lot to offer, and is just as good of a rangefinder as the newer V4 model.

Things We Liked

  • Pinseeker with JOLT technology
  • SCAN mode
  • Tournament legal

Things We Didn't Like

  • Features may be overwhelming for new players

Bushnell Tour X Jolt GPS/Rangefinder

The Bushnell Tour X, the next rangefinder on our list today, is unique in the world of rangefinders, even within its own brand.

The Tour X comes equipped with “Dual Display Technology”. This technology makes it possible to switch between a bright red display or a black display, which can help a golfer to see the course in various lighting conditions. This, in turn, assures that the golfer can always clearly read the course.

bushnell rangefinders reviews

Another unique aspect that the Tour X brings to the table is the ability to read slopes on a course. With use of the Tour X's “Exchange Technology”, golfers can switch out their lens to be able to read hills and slopes on the fairway, which will allow the golfer to better adjust their shots to accommodate the terrain.

With the Tour X golfers can see further than with most other rangefinders, with an effective range of up to 1300 yards. This readout is almost always guaranteed accurate as well thanks to the Tour X's “E.S.P” (Extreme Speed Precision), which provides fast and accurate yardage.

The only real issues with the Tour X are with the red display, as it can sometimes come out darker than intended, which can lead to small accuracy issues. This is due to the fact that the red display can become hard to read due to its darkness, making it hard to see the numbers on the display.

There also isn't a mount for a tripod on the Tour X, which can be a nuisance to some. While not a big problem by any means, it can make the Tour X hard to use for those without a steady hand.

These are minor gripes however, as the Tour X far outweighs the negatives with positives. With benefits in multiple lighting situations, as well as providing long distance viewing, this is one tool a golfer cannot do without.

Things We Liked

  • Dual display technology
  • Pinseeker with JOLT technology
  • Slope exchange
  • Extreme Speed Precision

Things We Didn't Like

  • Red display can be hard to read

Bushnell Pro X7 Jolt Slope Rangefinders

Are you a golfer that wants to become professional, but your game is lacking a little extra “something”? If so, the Pro X7 just may be able to help you.

If you want range, you got it with the X7, which can give you a clear view for up to a mile out. Seeing as this is a much greater distance than you would need on a given hole (unless you are golfing on Mars), there should be no obstacle that you can't spot in front of you.

best bushnell golf rangefinders

This is further exemplified by the 7x magnification, which is where the X7 gets its name, and HD optics. These two features combine with 2nd generation E.S.P. Technology, which quickly scans and focuses the course, to give golfers the absolute clearest image possible through their viewfinder.

To help a golfer compensate for any incline or decline that the hole in question might be on, the X7 uses slope technology to give golfers accurate distance readings. And, much like others on this list, you will find that the Pro X7 contains pin-seeker and jolt technology, which vibrates your rangefinder when you locate the pin, letting you know just how close you are to the hole.

Unfortunately, all of these great features come at quite a cost, with a brand new X7 costing around the $450-$500 mark. In the tough economic times that we are in today, making a purchase that great may be tough for some people.

Also, unlike many other rangefinders available by Bushnell, the Pro X7 is not legal for tournament use. This makes the X7 great to practice your golf game as a whole, but not a great choice if you are looking for something to use during a local tournament.

With the kind of benefit that Pro X7 can give golfers, this shouldn't be an issue, as with the X7 in hand you will be sure to be playing as good as a professional in no time.

Things We Liked

  • Slope integration
  • Extreme Speed Precision
  • Pinseeker with JOLT technology

Things We Didn't Like

  • Relatively expensive
  • Not tournament legal

Bushnell Tour Z6

As much as the Pro X7 rangefinder is a good product, many golfers may be looking for something that they can use in a tournament setting, but that still provides many of the same benefits. Enter the Bushnell Tour Z6.

The Tour Z6 has an effective range of 5 to 1300 yards, with magnification capabilities of up to six times. This will give you a complete and long range readout from every fairway to every rough on the golf course.

Bushnell-Tour-Z6

Should you be unfortunate enough to find yourself in a rainstorm while playing, then you will be in good hands the Z6. This is because the Tour Z6 is completely waterproof, meaning you never have to worry about water damage while playing.

As is the case with some other Bushnell rangefinders, the Z6 comes with the second generation Extreme Speed Precision (or E.S.P.) ability, which gives quick, clear, and accurate readouts on the rangefinder's display. When you are trying to find the pin, the Z6 will emit a “jolt”, which will let the golfer know that they have targeted the pin, with accuracy within a ½ yard margin.

Keeping the image you see on screen crystal clear is the Z6's use of “Vivid Display Technology”. This makes the image on screen vibrant and colorful, making it so what you are looking at through the viewfinder is as clear as it is in real life.

The only real drawback of the Tour Z6 is the lack of a reading for slopes, which can be forgiven, as this is actually one of the features that made the X7 illegal for tournament use. And with all the other features that the Tour Z6 has in tow, if you are looking for a rangefinder that you can use in competition, then look no further.

Things We Liked

  • Fully waterproof
  • Tournament legal
  • Extreme Speed Precision
  • Pinseeker with JOLT

Things We Didn't Like

  • No slope features

Bushnell Tour V4 Slope

We close out the list today with another version of the Bushnell Tour V4. This time around, we will be taking a look at the Slope edition of this Rangefinder.

As the name suggest, the slope version of the Tour V4 allows the user to accommodate for uphill and downhill slopes on the golf course. This will allow the golfer to make more accurate shots, as it helps to accurately calculate distance to the pin.

Bushnell-Tour-V4-Slope

Another unique aspect that the V4 Slope has going for it is the overall size of the rangefinder. Easily held in the palm of your hand, this small rangefinder is easy to carry and transport around the course without becoming cumbersome in any way.

In other aspects, the V4 Slope is very much the same kind of great product that the original V4 model is. The Slope includes the same kind of pin-seeker technology, that sends vibrations to the user when locked onto the pin, as having the same kind of 5-1000-yard effective range, with the ability to read the pin from 400 yards out.

With not much negative to say about the V4 Slope, buying this rangefinder is a very safe gamble. If you are looking for a convenient and easy to use rangefinder, the V4 Slope is the way to go.

Things We Liked

  • Slope integration
  • Easy to hold
  • Pinseeker with JOLT

Things We Didn't Like

  • Nothing much

Buying Factors for Best Bushnell Golf Rangefinders

Tournament Play

One problem that plagues a lot of rangefinders, even those outside the Bushnell umbrella, is whether or not the rangefinder in question is tournament legal. This is because, due to the kind of information that a rangefinder can give a golfer concerning the course they are playing on, these items can sometimes be seen as an unfair advantage.

If you are looking to buy a rangefinder for competitive play, try keeping an eye out for those products that say that they are USGA approved. Doing this assures that the rangefinder you are getting a product that is legal to use in a tournament, and means you won't get reprimanded or disqualified for using it.

Also, kind of as a rule of thumb, a lot of the rangefinders that have slope detection features are NOT tournament legal. While this isn't the case for all products with this feature, such as the Tour X, it is better to try and stay away from this feature if you are looking to play competitively.

Distance

Not all rangefinders are created equally. While some rangefinders can clearly see obstacles from over 1000 yards out, others struggle to keep up when looking that far out.

This is why the effective range of a rangefinder is important. While some rangefinders can claim to have a range of up to 1500 yards or more, these rangefinders' displays sometimes becoming blurry when focusing from that distance.

For this reason, it is important to know that the display of your rangefinder can keep up with the distance that it can view. This way you know that everything you see on your display will remain crystal clear, giving you the best possible read of the course.

What Makes Bushnell Products Unique

Bushnell does a lot of things that many other brands do just as well, such as providing clear displays and accurate reads of the course. What makes the Bushnell product line unique, however, is the brand's use of its “Pin-Seeker” and “Jolt” technology.

These two features give golfers an accurate detection of where the pin is located on the course, and provides a vibration to the unit when they find the pin. This gives golfers the ability to get the best possible result when shooting for the green, and helps to shave strokes off of their game.

With the many products above, it's hard to say which one would be best. If you don't mind paying the extra cash and are not planning to use the rangefinder for tournament play, the X7 is probably the way to go, with the many different features it has.

However, for tournament players, there are many great options above, the standout among them being the Tour X. This is because it gives golfers everything that they may be looking for in a rangefinder, but also has the option of attachments that contain features that can be used outside tournament play.

That isn't to say that there isn't plenty of options to choose from when it comes to the Bushnell brand. One thing is for certain, however, which is that if the Bushnell name is affixed to the product, then it is a product worth buying.

Some courses are just purposely designed to make winning difficult for golfers. Some are built on a hilly area, with artificial waterfalls, or with quite ragged topographical features. The problem doesn’t stop there because the weather conditions around the area may also affect your play. A windy afternoon can be very challenging to deal with since you have to adjust your angle and shot for example.

This is why taking a golf laser rangefinder with slope with you is highly recommended. It can measure distances (to an object) with elevations and weather conditions taken into consideration. However, be mindful of the fact that tournament plays do not allow the use of this device or any rangefinders that has the ability to measure the slope. A rangefinder with slope can be used for practice and casual plays, to be able to familiarize yourself with various golf courses.

Our Best Golf Laser Rangefinder with Slope Pick: Leupold GX-4i

best golf laser rangefinders with slope

Leupold GX-4i came out at the top of the competition despite of its high-end price. It simply tells you that for really passionate golfers, price does not matter that much as long as they get high-quality experience from using it. Although the Bushnell Pro X7 really have a fight versus the Leupold GX-4i.

To help you pick which best golf laser rangefinder with slope to buy, here’s a thorough review of the top three devices on the market this year.

Best Golf Laser Rangefinders with Slope

Leupold GX-4i

This Leupold GX-4i represents a thorough upgrade of the GX predecessors from Leupold.

It cancels out noise to make a more accurate and clear reading of the distance and its surroundings, which the other devices have lesser capability to do so.

For example, the said device can pick up multiple readings consecutively and the detection is so fast that it almost does not load to update.

best golf laser rangefinders with slope

Leupold GX-4i offers 6x magnification matched with its red OLED display so you can see the readings clearly even against under the broad daylight. It is also armored with quality aluminum material to give your hand a solid feel to it. The nice color scheme of black and yellow is a great bonus!

As with any other recent GX series, this device has pin-targeting technology and prism lock feature to make scanning across different targets relatively easier and faster. Leupold engineers have also made sure that there is significant improvement to the speed and accuracy of the unit’s laser beam.

However, experts believe that retaining the blinking effects on the GX-4i is unnecessary. Sometimes the OLED display blinks fast as it gets an update which makes it rather off-putting. The price is also considered as the highest in the top-range slope category at under $500.

Things We Liked

  • Red OLED Display
  • Club recommendation feature
  • Accuracy (within 6 inches)
  • Noise cancellation

Things We Didn't Like

  • The blinking effects

Bushnell Tour V3 Slope Edition

Sporting a gray and black smooth finish, the slope edition of Bushnell Tour V3 is easy to use, compact, and rainproof. Its small size makes it easy to hold and steady your hand as you measure distances.

For its users this device has been a lot of help to learning the exact distance to an object relative to their position. It is a good companion to average and semi-pro golfers.

golf rangefinder with slope reviews

In some cases, you might just not know how to hit your shot on the golf course because you can’t find your range. What the Bushnell Tour V3 with slope does is to display the yardages available within your range such as to the flagsticks accurately. Consequently, this allows you to hit different shots using different clubs.

With this slope edition, everything in the surrounding is measured including the terrain. The first to pop out on the monitor display is the actual yardage and the second one is the yardage with the slope taken into account and it does its work consistently. This should then help you adjust your shot.

However, with its slope feature you can’t use it for tournament plays. The price is also a huge factor, under $400, as to why you might say “no” to this product, and you’d rather have its non-slope version. Nevertheless, if you want to become a better player the Tour V3 is the golf rangefinder with slope you must have.

Things We Liked

  • 5 – 1,000 yards range and 300 yards to a flagstick
  • 5x magnification
  • PinSeeker and Jolt technologies
  • 1-yard accuracy

Things We Didn't Like

  • Nothing much

Bushnell Pro X7

Out of the box, the Bushnell Pro X7 is enveloped in a sturdy carrying case. It has a heavy duty zipper so it can fully protect the device from shock and water while kept inside it.

However, at first impression, you will say that the device is pretty hefty for its huge size but when used on the ground, you’ll understand why. With hefty size, it is packed with power and features to give you an incomparable experience.

Best Golf Rangefinder with Slope

The Bushnell Pro X7 is made with waterproof material as well as some rubber on it for easy grip. It also does not require any complex operation from the user as it is good to go out-of-the-box. The overall design looks similar to a pair of binoculars and it seems to function like that because you have to position the device at eye level in order to view the target clearly.

With the Bushnell Pro X7’s 550 yards flag reach, it makes the calculation of distances much faster than the other devices. It can even detect sleek objects located as far as 1,760 yards. Needless to say, this device can produce very accurate readings in the fastest way possible.

As for its slope feature, some golf rangefinder reviews reveal that the device has a built-in accelerometer to give you an insight about the height of elevation an area has as well as the distance from your position to the pin. Having an idea about the place’s elevation can help you play on top of the situation regardless of whether the hole is located sharply downhill or not.

Of course, to be able to have this kind of high-quality game, you must be willing to pay an extra cost for the slope feature. Its market retail price places it at the top of its category for having an under $500 price tag. And you must endure holding this hefty hand-held device throughout the game.

This is one the drawbacks of the Bushnell Pro X7, a reason why some golfers would go for the small and lighter laser rangefinders with slope. However, if price and size is not an issue for you, there is no reason why this device should not be recommended to both beginners and pros.

But what if you are one of these folks that are finding it rough to strike the perfect balance of speed and tempo on your own swings? If that's the case, you may need a golf swing speed/tempo trainer!

Using one of these trainers, you should be able to better accustom yourself to the proper speed and swing rhythm you need to make better shots, through the use of various exercises and devices.

Today, we will be looking at five of the best of these speed and tempo trainers available. Should you be looking to buy one of these items, then this list should be a good first stop on your journey to a better golf game!

Best Golf Swing Tempo Trainers 2018

Swing Whistle

One thing you will notice as we cover the products on this list is how diverse the range of products can be. To give a good example of this, our first trainer for today is an item known as the Swing Whistle.

This little red whistle can be easily attached near the club head of nearly every club in your bag. Once attached, the device is among the easiest to use for speed and tempo trainers, using a whistling noise to alert you to various circumstances during your swing.

Swing-Whistle Tempo Trainer

For example, the Swing Whistle will alert you with an early whistle noise during your swing that alerts you to shots that may end up erratic, such as "Fat Shots". If your speed is perfect when you make impact with your ball, the device will emit a whistle on contact to confirm it, giving you a good, audible feedback on your swings.

Of course, one negative for this item is that it obviously may not be the best trainer choice for the hearing impaired, as the whistling sound the trainer emits can be hard to hear. The Swing Whistle also has some slight durability issues, with some users commenting that the item broke after a few uses.

While not the best item available, the Swing Whistle, which comes up to under $20 as of this writing, is both an easy to use and affordable speed and tempo trainer that will help even the newest of golfers with their shots.

Things We Liked

  • Corrects "casting" and "fat shots" identified by an "early" whistle
  • Trains timing, tempo and effective clubhead speed

Things We Didn't Like

  • Not suitable for the hearing impaired

Orange Whip Golf Swing Trainer

If you want a trainer that will give you the absolute best game enhancement possible, what better product to use than one endorsed by PGA professionals themselves? Such is the case with the Orange Whip Golf Swing Trainer.

Designed using a system of weights and counterweights, the Orange Whip is designed to help a golfer’s balance and tempo. It does this by challenging the golfer to keep a steady and fluid motion as they follow through with their swing, which in turn helps them to create a perfect swing rhythm.

best golf swing tempo trainers

Not only is this product great to help out with your swings themselves, but thanks to the weighting, the Orange Whip helps to work out the muscles you use most when swinging. This in turn helps to give golfers better speed and power behind their shots.

What may hurt this product for some is that, for some golfers, it may be difficult to use. This isn't to say that the Orange Whip is a hard to use trainer, but that the weight and length of the whip may prove difficult for some golfers to handle properly, especially if said golfer tends to be on the smaller side. This isn't a big problem as there are different sizes of this training aid available.

For most of the golfers out there, however, the Orange Whip is a great training tool. Able to provide benefits to speed, tempo, and even strength, the Orange Whip is probably one of the best all-around trainers available.

Things We Liked

  • Helps to improve balance and body rhythm
  • Perfect for pre-round warm up
  • Durable and strong for long usage

Things We Didn't Like

  • Relatively high price tag

PureShot Sync Ball

The PureShot Sync Ball is a tennis ball on a string. Chances are, that sentence did nothing to sell you on this trainer, but keep reading, as I promise that the Sync Ball is more than it at first seems.

The Sync Ball attaches via string to both a strap around your neck and to the shaft of your club. Then, as you take your swing, you grip the tennis ball portion between your forearms, trying to keep some slight tension on the string throughout your swing.

PureShot-Sync Swing Speed Trainer

What this in turn does is help to make stronger and faster, club swings, as you work to keep the ball in place while also slightly stretching the attached cord. This exercise can be done on every club in your bag, allowing you to get the perfect swing tempo for every potential situation.

Unfortunately, the Sync Ball is not one size fits all. The ball that you are meant to keep clutched in your forearms is, at times, too small in size for some men, which can render the product completely useless.

If the ball fits, however, the Sync Ball will be sure to give you better speed and tempo by applying one of the simplest, yet most challenging, exercises of any of these trainers yet.

Things We Liked

  • Keeps your arms in the correct position
  • Adds extension and width to your golf swing

Things We Didn't Like

  • Not a one size fits all ball

Swingclick Golf Swing Aid

Our next product, the Swingclick Golf Swing Aid, continues the trend we've had so far on this list of providing different, easy to use options that are designed to help you with your speed and tempo.

In the case of the Swingclick, it does by providing a "click" noise to help with your swing. The golfer attaches this item to their forearm, and will hear a click at the top of the golfer's back swing, impact, and follow through, giving an accurate representation of the proper tempo and speed for your swing.

Swingclick-Golf-Swing-Aid

As simple as the Swingclick is to use, what many people may love even more about this item is the great price. At just under $20, the Swingclick is one of the most affordable choices available for speed and tempo training.

The only real drawback seems to be on an on user basis with the Swingclick. While there isn't much said about how the product itself works, the feeling of having the product strapped to your forearm, as well as the loud click the Swingclick makes being potentially distracting, is what has bothered some users.

Don't let this hinder your experience, however, as you would be missing out on a great training tool. Providing an easy to use and affordable training option, the Swingclick Golf Swing Aid may just be the trainer you need.

Things We Liked

  • Gives a frame of reference of the ideal tempo of a great golf shot
  • Teaches to consistently set the club in the same position

Things We Didn't Like

  • Can be distracting to have it strapped to forearm

Sports Sensors Swing Speed Radar

If you are like me, you hate those speed sensors that are set up on the side of the highway, and may or may not end up in speeding tickets. What doesn't suck nearly as much, however, is when that same type of technology is used to help you perfect your golf swing, as is the case with the Sports Sensors Swing Speed Radar.

The Swing Speed Radar uses similar technology to the mentioned traffic radar to measure swing speed and tempo from the start of your swing until the finish.

best golf swing speed trainer

The results then come up on the tool's digital display, providing golfers with immediate feedback to help them adjust their swings.

The range of speed on the radar is truly unbelievable as well, able to give golfers accurate speed ratings from 40 to a whopping 200 miles per hour! The Swing Speed Radar is also easy to set up and use, and is small enough to use in any practice space you may want to use it.

Probably as a result of using the most high-tech equipment of any of our other trainers today, the Swing Speed Radar is also the most expensive. Coming up to over $100, the price of the product may turn off some golfers.

That said, it is more than worth the price you pay. The Sports Sensors Swing Speed Radar gives every golfer an easy to read, easy to use system that will help to improve their swing speed and tempo.

Things We Liked

  • Measures clubhead swing speed and tempo time to help golfers optimize their swing
  • Immediate feedback provides a basis for golfers to determine swing improvements
  • Huge range of speed measurement from 40 MPH to over 200 MPH

Things We Didn't Like

  • More of a measurement aid than a training aid

Buying Factors for Best Golf Swing Speed Trainer

As great as all these products were, there is still a few things you may want to consider before you rush out to your local sporting goods store to scout these out.

What Kind of Training Fits You Best?

As you can see from the above listed items, there is a wide range of training tools for speed and tempo, each one very much different. From radars to whistles, and even physical practices, there is something different for everyone.

With that in mind, you will want to find the tool that will work best for you. If you are hard of hearing, then you may find more benefit more from something like the radar. If you need to work on your strength, then you may want one of the more physically intensive training tools.

The important thing is to find which of these tools would work best for your needs and lifestyle, so that you can start working on your game as soon as possible.

Research

Even with the great options we provided golfers with above, there are still so many more of these training tools available, many of which do things different than those listed. For that reason, you may want to take a little extra time to do some more research and find the product best for you.

Reviews

Going hand in hand with the above, no one knows better than your fellow golfers how good certain training products can be. To that end, read reviews on every product you may be interested in, to make sure you are getting a good speed and tempo trainer before purchase.

Also, you may want to shy away from products that have very few reviews available. Sometimes, especially with newer products, manufacturers will pay for good reviews, so as to generate more buzz for their item. You are less likely to come across this issue the more reviews a product has, as it indicates the that the product has likely been on the market awhile, and hence there are more reviews from people who have actually used the item in question.

Price

As with everything, price is an important factor while buying a speed and tempo trainer. With so many of these trainers available, there is just as wide of a range of prices, and it's important to find the trainer that will give you the most benefit for the best price.

As we have stated in one of our previous articles, golf rangefinders are one of the best tools available to use for the game of golf. These tools make it possible to accurately measure the distance to the pin from wherever you may be on the fairway, through the use of magnification and lasers, among other features.

Of all the available names there are available for these rangefinders, one brand name reigns above the rest. This brand name is Leupold, makers of some of the best golf rangefinders available.

Being one of the leaders in golf rangefinders, over the years Leupold has put out a variety of products, each with their own unique additions and features. Today, we will be looking at some of the best that this brand has to offer with five of the greatest rangefinders that Leupold has ever produced.

Our Best Leupold Rangefinder Pick: Leupold GX-4Ia2

best leupold rangefinders

The Leupold GX-4Ia2 Rangefinder snags out top spot with its multitude of features. Together with the DNA (Digital Enhanced Accuracy) and Prism Lock technology - which are identified with the GX series - for accurate and faster measurements, the GX-4Ia2 also comes with PinHunter 2 technology, which allows it to automatically find and track the pin, letting you know exactly how far you are away from the green. The most outstanding features of this model are the True-Golf Range and Club Selector features, which help you to plan out your attack in the way that is best suited to your play style and current position on the course, allowing for the most accurate game possible.

Best Leupold Rangefinders 2018

Leupold Pincaddie 2 Rangefinder

We start our list with one of Leupold's most affordable rangefinder models with the Pincaddie 2. While a great choice for those on a budget, the Leupold is more than just a cheap rangefinder.

While most rangefinders can get quite pricey, the Pincaddie 2 comes with an affordable price point of just under $200. This makes the Pincaddie a choice that is not only cheaper than other Leupold models, but cheaper than the majority of rangefinders available.

Leupold Pincaddie 2 Rangefinder

For the price you pay, you get a bevy of great features as well. This includes 6x magnification, high-contrast LCD display, and a tough, waterproof exterior.

Of course, while this is certainly a lot of bang for your buck, the Pincaddie 2 is still limited in features when compared to some other Leupold models. While this helps to keep the cost low for the tool, it makes it inferior to some of the products that use more advanced technology.

Even so, you get a lot of value for your dollar with the Leupold Pincaddie 2 Rangefinder. If what you are looking for is a well-designed, accurate rangefinder that won't break the bank, the Pincaddie 2 is exactly what you are looking for.

Things We Liked

  • Economically priced and incredible easy to use
  • Rugged, compact and completely waterproof

Things We Didn't Like

  • Reduced features make it basic

Leupold RX-650 Micro Laser Rangefinder

While the Pincaddie 2 is certainly a great, and affordable rangefinder, it isn't the only affordable option that Leupold provides. Enter the Micro Laser Rangefinder.

Boasting a lot of the features that make the previous model one of the best, such as the strong, waterproof design, the Micro Laser Rangefinder is also around the same price point as the Pincaddie, actually coming up cheaper. As far as affordable rangefinders are concerned, both products will give you more than your money's worth.

There is a small catch however: technically speaking, the Micro Laser Rangefinder is actually a product that is intended for use in hunting. That doesn't mean that it isn't just as well suited for golf, however, as the readout of the Micro will provide you with information that is just as accurate to determine your distance to the pin as it is to judge distance to a wild deer.

Unfortunately, for both hunting and golf, the distance you can accurately measure with the Micro Laser Rangefinder is a bit underwhelming. While very accurate within 300 yards of a target, anything more than that and the rangefinder has trouble detecting correct distance.

While there are certainly rangefinders better suited to your golfing needs out there, the Micro Laser Rangefinder is still extremely accurate within the correct range, and provides many benefits to both golfers and outdoorsmen alike.

Things We Liked

  • Economically priced
  • Durable and waterproof

Things We Didn't Like

  • Max range of 300 yards

Leupold GX-1i2 Rangefinder

So far, we have looked at some great affordable options for rangefinders, but ones that are fairly bare bones in terms of features available to use. That all changes with the Leupold GX-1i2 rangefinder.

Using Leupold's patented "DNA" engine technology, as well as use of infrared lasers, the GX-1i2 provides super-fast readouts of almost any fairway. Not only are readouts provided to the golfer fast, but accurately as well, using "Prism Lock" technology that gives the user the greatest accuracy possible.

Leupold GX-1i2 Rangefinder

This means that you will always be able to know exactly how far you are in relation to any hazard or the green, allowing you to best plan your shots. Not only that, but should you wish to use this rangefinder in tournament play, you'll be happy to know that the GX-1i2 is completely legal for use.

The only drawback to the GX-1i2 is that the can sometimes be less than user friendly. It takes a bit of tweaking to get settings on this rangefinder just right for your golf game, and you will always need use of a steady hand to get the most accurate reading.

Much like the previous two, however, the price of this rangefinder is also relatively affordable, only being about $20-30 more than the Pincaddie or Micro Laser. With this, as well as the speed and accuracy that this rangefinder provides, the GX-1i2 may well be the best balance between affordability and usability so far.

Things We Liked

  • Prism Lock technology affords unmatched accuracy
  • DNA technology gives super-fast readouts

Things We Didn't Like

  • Needs some tweaking of settings before using

Leupold GX-3Ia2 Rangefinder

The second product in the GX line to make our list is the Leupold GX-3Ia2. While this model of GX does share a few features with the previous 1i2, it also improves on said features while adding even more.

For example, the 3Ia2 uses the same kind of DNA engine and Prism Lock technology that made the 1i2 provide fast and accurate readings of the golf course. Adding to this already great technology, however, is the 3Ia2's "PinHunter Laser Technology", which allows it to automatically find and track the pin, letting you know exactly how far you are away from the green.

Leupold GX-3Ia2

The GX-3Ia2 is also invaluable in foggy weather conditions, as the rangefinder's "Fog Mode" allows you to track targets through even the densest of fog, so you will always be able to know where to aim your shots. Much like the previous GX model, you can use this rangefinder for tournament play, meaning you can use the 3Ia2 to help you tackle the competition.

If there is anything that can be considered a slight negative on this product, it's that the OLED display of the tool can be a bit darker than advertised when viewed through the eyepiece. While in no means a deal breaker, this harder to see display may be an annoyance to some.

This can be easily overlooked thanks to everything the Leupold GX-3Ia2 can do, providing quick and unparalleled accuracy in even the roughest conditions. If you have the GX-3Ia2 on hand, you know you will be ready for anything.

Things We Liked

  • Prism lock and DNA technology for fast and accurate readouts
  • PinHunter Laser automatically finds and tracks target
  • Fog Mode allows tracking in foggy conditions

Things We Didn't Like

  • OLED display is slightly darker than advertised

Leupold GX-4Ia2 Rangefinder

The GX-4Ia2, yet another in the same Leupold product family as the previous two entries, is the latest in the GX line. As such, many of the features in the 4Ia2 make use of latest and greatest in rangefinder technology.

The 4Ia2 provides one of the greatest distance range of any rangefinder available, not just in the Leupold line. With a clear, viewable distance of up to 800 yards, and able to track the pin from up to 450 yards, there is literally no obstacle you shouldn't be able to spot with the 4Ia2.

best leupold rangefinder

The 4Ia2 also comes with various features that you can't get in any other Leupold model available. These features are the True-Golf Range and Club Selector features, which help you to plan out your attack in the way that is best suited to your play style and current position on the course, allowing for the most accurate game possible.

Of course, all of these great features come at a price, and a hefty one at that. At nearly $500, the price of the Leupold GX-4Ia2 may not be for everyone, especially with some great, and cheaper models available.

But those models simply cannot compare to the range of features that the Leupold GX-4Ia2 gives golfers. There is little that you cannot accomplish with this rangefinder, and the benefits it provides are sure to show in your golf game.

Things We Liked

  • Greatest distance range available
  • PinHunter, Prism lock and DNA technology for fast and accurate readouts
  • Features to help plan out your next move

Things We Didn't Like

  • Higher priced than others

Buying Factors for Best Leupold Rangefinders

IMPORTANT FEATURES

While every product above does come from the same brand name, not every one of them is created equal in terms of features.

With the first two on our list, the Pincaddie and the Micro, we have two products that, while great for price, are light on features. While you may be required to climb the price ladder a bit, the extra features that the GX series of Leupold Rangefinder's provide may be just what you need for your game.

In the end, you'll want to find the rangefinder that will give you the most of what you need out of your game, while trying to eliminate those that either have too much or are a bit more confusing. This way, you will get the most out of your purchase without the added hassle.

PRICE

As mentioned above, the Leupold products all come with a range of prices and features. So which of these provide the best balance between the two?

Smart money would be on the GX-1i2, which comes in the middle of the price ladder at just around $200, and provides a decent amount of accuracy features that golfers love.

That said, they certainly don't have the most to offer, with other GX models providing added weather and accuracy features, in addition to other things. And even the cheaper Micro and Pincaddie models provide their own adequate features, and at a cheaper price.

It comes down to what you are willing to pay. While paying more will get you more, you will want to get a rangefinder that best fits your budget and playstyle.

DISPLAY

When you use a rangefinder, you will want something that will be clear and easy to read. If the display is dark and cloudy, you won't be able to accurately see obstacles in your way, or even tag the pin.

While all the models above certainly have adequate displays, the GX-4Ia2 provides possibly the clearest OLED display available, with all objects in view being crystal clear. The 3Ia2 model is also a great choice in this regard, as you are able to cut through even the foggiest of conditions to find your target.

Like I said before, however, that isn't to say that you won't get a good display with any model you may buy, and for that reason you can be certain that you will get a good view no matter which Leupold you buy.

Is Leupold the Best?

While it is arguable to say that one of the best names in rangefinders IS Leupold, they are also not the only game in town when it comes to great rangefinders. There are also golf GPS for your consideration.

With any of the above products, you are certain to get a great rangefinder, but that doesn't mean Leupold is the only reliable brand name. Just doing some simple research, you will find a large selection of rangefinders, so even if Leupold isn't the brand for you, there are still other brands like Bushnell and Breaking 80.

If you have been struggling in your search to find a rangefinder, any of the above products are good choices. If you see Leupold in the product name, you can be certain that you will be buying a rangefinder that you will be using for years to come.

The most important thing to master in golf, and maybe the most difficult, is the art of the golf swing. A good swing is almost the only important thing when playing golf, as your swing can be the life or death of your game.

Of the elements that make up your swing, the most important is the shot plane and the path that your club takes when addressing the ball. These are the portions of your swing that will decide how you impact the ball, and in turn is what makes the difference between hitting the ball flat against the club head, or slicing the ball out of existence.

To help you out with striking the ball perfectly, there are products known as golf path/plane trainers, which are designed to help you in these areas. These products help you to keep your shots aligned from beginning to end, giving you better, more accurate swings.

Our Best Golf Swing Plane Trainers Pick: Explanar Home Golf Training Aid

best golf swing plane trainers

Invented by PGA Master Professional Luther Blacklock, the Explanar is a comprehensive training aid that helps to perfect your swing in your optimal biomechanical swing plane, and at the same time, trains key golfing muscles for improved strength & flexibility. Using the Explanar for just 5 - 10 minutes each day allows you to hit longer, straighter, and more consistent golf shots.

If you are having trouble adjusting your swings for a given situation, then these trainers may well be what you need. If that's the case, then keep reading this list, as we will be covering the best of these golf path/plane trainers, each with their own features designed to help give you the perfect shot every time.

Best Golf Swing Path Trainers 2018

Explanar Home Golf Training Aid

It is always good to start out any list with a bang, which is why we chose the Explanar Home Golf Training Aid as our first product.

This is because, in the world of shot plane and club path trainers, the Explanar may just be one of the best.

Using a giant, ring shaped structure, along with a sturdy mat for your feet, the Explanar helps the golfer to make the perfect shot every time.

best golf swing plane trainers

It does this by allowing the golfer to line up his swing with the ring structure, which helps with your shot's trajectory, as well as provide you a guideline for where your feet should be planted.

Not only does the Explanar's swing trainer help with your shot itself, but it also helps golfers to strengthen the muscles they use to swing their club. This essentially means that the Explanar will not only help with your shot path, but will help you to make more powerful shots as well.

The only real drawback with the item is one that is common with Path/Plane trainers as a whole: the price. At around $800, which is more than most televisions even cost, the price is not for the faint of heart... or light of wallet.

Even so, the all-around benefits of the Explanar can't be stated enough. From power to accuracy, the Explanar is certain to help you shave strokes off your scorecard.

Things We Liked

  • Learn to feel the perfect swing in your optimal biomechanical swing plane
  • Train key golfing muscles for improved strength & flexibility

Things We Didn't Like

  • Expensive

Full Circle PVC Golf Swing Trainer

You know PVC, that hard, plastic material that is used to create things such as water pipes? Did you know that the same material could be used to help you improve your golf swing?

Well, this is the case with the Full Circle PVC Golf Swing Trainer.

Much like the Explanar, the PVC Swing Trainer is designed in a circular arc, which helps you to line up the direction of your swing.

best golf swing path trainers

By using the circular guideline, golfers can line up their shots to create the perfect back-and-forward swings, which will help to create more accurate shots.

Need to improve multiple aspects of your game, such as your fairway shots or approaches? Then you will be pleased to know that you can adjust the Full Circle to any type of club, which will allow you to practice your shot path for every kind of shot possible.

There is only one, rather small issue with the Full Circle, which comes in the form of its adjustment options. After a while of use, the Full Circle starts to sort of settle, and ever so slightly re-adjust itself, but this isn't anything that can't be quickly fixed.

Being made of PVC material, you can be sure that the Full Circle is a durable tool as well. This make the Full Circle PVC Golf Swing Trainer a practice tool that you will be using for years to come.

Things We Liked

  • Train your proper pre-swing set-up, arc, and plane
  • Adjustable to fit every club in the bag

Things We Didn't Like

  • Slightly re-adjusts itself after a while

The Elixer Golf Alignment Sticks

As said before, most golf plane/path trainers tend to be on the pricey side, and there are not many options for those that want to train on a budget. That changes with the Elixer Golf Alignment Sticks.

Those that need help perfecting their golf game, but don't want to spend a ton of money, will be happy to know that they can buy the Elixer for under $15. This is less than most greens fees, and makes a great way to practice the path of your swings on a budget.

the-elixer-golf-alignment-sticks

Using the two alignment sticks, golfers can line up the angle of their swings to best help them with their back swing and to strike the ball dead center. If path and plane game are not the only aspects of your game you wish to improve, you will be happy to hear that the Elixer also helps to improve other areas such as putting and accuracy.

Granted, this training tool is very bare bones, with no real extra features, such as a ring, to help you with your shots. The Elixer is also prone to moving around a lot when on the ground, as there are no spikes or any other sort of object to keep the tool steady on the ground.

There really are not many affordable options that help to improve your shot plane and club path, but with the Elixer you will be guaranteed to get a tool that can help you improve your game without emptying your wallet.

Things We Liked

  • Cheap
  • Portable and lightweight
  • Helps improve path, putting and accuracy

Things We Didn't Like

  • Prone to moving around a lot

Plane Sight Laser

If you have looked at some of the other tools on this list and thought that some of these devices seem kind of complex, then the Plane Sight Laser may be the training tool for you.

To use the Plane Sight, all you have to do is simply attach the laser pointer onto the grip of any club, and you are ready to use it. This easy to install tool means that you can get started practicing your swing path and shot plane in no time, and with any club you wish to practice with.

plane-sight-laser

The Plane Sight Laser provides golfers with three laser points, which can be seen on the ground during your back swing. Golfers can use these points as a guideline on the path they should bring their club down to best strike the ball, making for an easy way for golfers to practice their golf game.

One major drawback for this product comes when trying to use the Plane Sight... well... in plain sight. When using the laser in bright lighting, it can be hard to make out the illuminated points on the ground, making it difficult to use the tool, unless in dim lighting.

This is made up for with how simplistic the Plane Sight Laser is to install and use. And, at only around $80, the Plane Sight may be the most convenient path/plane trainer available.

Things We Liked

  • Easily attaches to almost any golf club
  • Gives three points during your golf swing to check your swing plane

Things We Didn't Like

  • Works better in dim lighting

Golf Swing Plane Perfector

Our final product for today is known as the Golf Swing Plane Perfector, which is the "perfect" way to close out or list on swing path and plane trainers.

Using a system of alignment sticks, the Perfector allows golfers to measure and align their shots from varying angles. This gives golfers both a physical and visual aid that will help them to improve their golf swings for any angle and any club.

golf-swing-plane-perfector

While the different angles and aids help you improve your club path and shot plane, one of the drawbacks with the Perfector is that none of this is readily apparent. Looking at the tool, it is hard at first to figure out exactly how to use it, and even harder to determine which angle you may need to set it up in for the perfect shot (without the assistance of a golf coach, that is).

Once you do figure this out, the Perfector becomes a tool that will have you improving your game in no time. And it is one that is easy to move around, as well, as it can be easily disassembled and stored when not in use.

While it may be a bit on the confusing side, you will love the Golf Swing Plane Perfector once you start using it. With the Perfecter, you will be a better golfer in no time flat!

Things We Liked

  • Precise with immediate feedback
  • Improves plane, path and clubface at impact

Things We Didn't Like

  • Confusing at first

Buying Factors for Best Golf Swing Path Trainer

Are You Sure This Product is for you?

Before you rush out and buy one of these trainers, take a second to sit down and think if you actually want to invest in one. These products, by and large, are not cheap after all, and if you don't see yourself using one constantly, you may want to pass on a path/plane trainer.

You also should consider your training needs, as these products are for people who really need the extra help with their shot accuracy. You will get the most benefit from one of these trainers if you are really suffering on the course, but might not see the same amount of value or benefit from the item if you should only need to slightly adjust how you hit the ball normally.

Price

As said above, the golf swing and path trainers are not the cheapest of golfing tools on the market. Some of these products come with price tags upwards of $1000 dollars, which makes these a hard to argue purchase for those with a lighter bank account.

That said, not all of these trainers are quite that expensive. There are some pretty decent ones available for around the $100 mark, although these may not have some of the training features of the more expensive trainers. In other words, try to keep on the lookout for the trainer that will give you the most game enhancement for the best price.

Space

The final thing you will need to know before buying one of these training devices is the space you will have to practice. Bushnell NEO XS Golf GPS Rangefinder Watch

Want a good looking watch that has all the important features that you are looking for in a GPS watch? Then our first watch, the Bushnell NEO XS, may be the watch you are looking for!

To begin, the NEO has several features that golfers love, such as being able to tell time, a "golf" mode, and an "Odometer" mode. The latter two features are used to help measure distance between hazards on the course and the green, as well as speed and distance traveled during play, both of which can help a golfer with their game.

bushnell-neo-xs-golf-gps-rangefinder-watch

No matter which course you choose to play on, the NEO can likely give you an accurate readout of it, as this watch comes with over 33,000 pre-loaded golf courses. And with a battery that last a really long time, you will be able to play these courses multiple times before your watch gives out on you.

The watch does have some design flaws despite this, however. Some users have claimed that the watch band is too small, and others have even said that the watch broke when dropped just once. But these issues are few and far between, and should not be something to be worried about.

With the Bushnell NEO XS, we start our list with a bang, giving you one of the best watches available. Great features and long battery life, and even looking pretty cool, make this an awesome GPS watch.

Things We Liked

  • Long battery life
  • Pre-loaded with over 33000 courses
  • Easy-to-read front/center/back distances

Things We Didn't Like

  • Watch band can be too small for some

TomTom Golfer 2 GPS Watch

When someone wants to buy a good GPS watch for golf, it is probably a good idea to go with a brand that knows what they are doing. TomTom is one of those brands, being well known for their car GPS devices, so you know that with them you will get a great GPS watch.

The TomTom Golfer 2 uses something called a "smart shot detection" feature that automatically tracks your shots and provides an accurate distance prediction of where on the course your ball may be.

tomtom-golfer-2-gps-watch

This is a great feature to not only measure the distance of your shot, but even to help you find the ball if you happen to lose it.

The watch also has a really long battery life, with a battery that is certain to last you multiple rounds of golf. Adding to all these great features is that the watch is also very lightweight, so you don't feel like you wearing a brick on your hand when walking around.

There are frequent complaints about the notification feature of the watch. During play, an annoying buzzing sound emits from the watch, which some people are bothered by. While this is annoying, this feature can be turned off from the options menu of the watch, eliminating the issue.

If you can deal with that buzzing, then you will be more than happy with the TomTom Golfer 2. Battery life and shot detection that can last on the course as long as you do, what's not to love?

Things We Liked

  • Tracks your shot and gives insight about your game
  • Creates a virtual summary of your best hole combination
  • Over 40000 courses

Things We Didn't Like

  • Buzzing from notifications

Callaway GPSy

While not a well-known name in GPS like TomTom, Callaway is more than well-known in the world of golf. With the Callaway GPSy Golf GPS Watch, Callaway aims to give players the best in both golf and GPS.

To begin with, the Callaway GPSy has preloaded maps for over 33,000 golf courses, meaning that you will have an accurate readout no matter what course you may play on. Should it happen that your golf course is not already on the watch, then have no fear, as it is very easy to update the watch and add even more courses to it.

callaway-gpsy

If you are in the market for extra features, then you'll love the Callaway's Score keeper feature. This feature contains information for the hole you are on, the current score, GIR information, and even putts per round, giving you complete statistics of your game as you are playing.

best golf gps watches

Everything about this watch is great, except for battery life. While not short by any means, the Callaway's battery life does tend to be shorter than other GPS watches on the market, and gets shorter the older the watch gets.

That one issue aside, the Callaway gives you everything you could want in a GPS watch and more. Being able to give you accurate information no matter which course, Callaway proves again why they are one of the best names in golf.

Things We Liked

  • Score keeper feature
  • Futuristic interface
  • Over 30000 courses

Things We Didn't Like

  • Battery life not as long

POSMA GT1 Golf Trainer GPS Golf Watch

If you want a golf GPS watch, but you are on a budget, it may be hard to find the right product. Luckily with the POSMA GT1 GPS Watch, you may be able to get exactly what you are looking for, and then some.

While most GPS watches tend to run upwards of $150 or more, the POSMA comes up to only around $70, making it one of the most affordable GPS watches available. And that price comes without any subscriptions or other expenses, adding to the value of the watch.

posma-gt1-golf-trainer-gp

For the price you pay for the watch, you will get a ton of features. Coming with over 27,000 preloaded courses, accurate greens and hazard information, and even a scorecard feature, this GPS watch gives you value worth more than you pay.

While the POSMA can do all this, the watch tends to function more slowly than other watches, which may be a bad thing for the impatient type. And battery life of the POSMA averages around 8 hours, which is long enough to last a round of golf, but not nearly that of a lot of the competitors.

Overall, the POSMA is a great value for the price you pay for it, giving you all the features and more you would want from a GPS watch without breaking the bank.

Things We Liked

  • Lots of features for its affordable price
  • Allows for best time control in golfing

Why You Should Get a Golf GPS Watch

The game of golf has changed significantly over the last few decades. Gone are the days when your main objective on the course was to simply hit the ball as hard and as close to the hole as you possibly can. Today’s game is as physical as it is strategic. Instead of trying to outdrive the competition at the tee, most golfers nowadays would look at their second shot first and choose to just hit the center of the green on their first shot. But how are they able to estimate the distance to the green so accurately? The answer is right there, strapped around their wrists.

These watches are devices that project a map display that includes hazards and distance to the green, as well as other vital information for the golfer, all in the form of a convenient wristwatch. Some of them can even tell the time!

Over the years, golf GPS watches have become an integral part of any self-respecting golfer’s arsenal. Not only do they help golfers make better shot decisions, they also eliminate the need for lengthy information gathering. If you are looking to improve your golf game, but are still on the fence about whether you should be getting a golf GPS watch or not, then maybe these reasons can help persuade you.

golf gps watch reviews

Golf GPS watches measure distances easily and accurately. If you play the game often, you will have learned by now that the distance markers on many golf courses today are surprisingly inaccurate. How often have you come up a few meters short of your target just because you based your calculations on them? Golf GPS watches use satellite technology in order to measure the distance from where you tee off to where the ball rolls to a stop, with a certain degree of accuracy. In today’s game, knowing just how far you are from the hole is a definite advantage.

Having a golf GPS watch lets you play to your strengths. Because your golf GPS watch gives you fairly accurate distance readings, course management becomes easy. Consider this example: Assume that the club that you are most comfortable with is your trusty 6-iron. You know that you can hit that ball and send it flying a good 150 to 160 meters with it, nine out of ten times. According to the preloaded course map on your golf GPS watch, you are about 382 meters from the hole. If you plan to use your 6-iron on your second shot, you will need to hit your tee shot to a distance of about 222 meters. You take out your 3-wood instead of your driver, and you set yourself up for a second shot that you’ve only done successfully nine out of ten times.

Your golf GPS watch can tell you how far you hit with each club. If you’ve been struggling with your game lately, or you’re just learning to play golf for the first time, knowing how far you can send the ball with each club in your bag will help you a lot. Golf GPS watches have a “shot distance” feature that with a press of a button, allows you mark where you took the shot and where the ball goes. It can then tell you the distance between the two marks. With enough practice, you will soon learn how far you are able to accurately hit the ball with each club. This is an important part of shot management, because it can help you decide whether you want to be playing your next shot with a 5-iron or a 4-iron.

golf gps reviews

You can play faster and more efficiently without sacrificing the quality of your game. Many of the GPS watches that are available in the market today already come pre-loaded with course maps and distance measurements, which means you no longer need to look at brochures, read books, or refer to inaccurate distance markers. Doing away with information gathering allows you to focus on your game, so that you can get to the hole with as few shots as possible. Should you happen to be playing on a course whose map isn’t pre-loaded, you can always upload the course map to your golf GPS watch before you tee off.

There is a golf GPS watch for you, regardless of your budget or skill level. Whether you’re an amateur or a professional golfer, there is bound to be a golf GPS watch that will help you improve your game. Because manufacturers continually try to improve their design and incorporate as many different features on their devices as possible, GPS watches go for less than $100 to more than $400.Times have changed, and golfers today have become far more strategic with their game than ever before. If you want to lower your handicap and be the star of the fairway, getting a golf GPS watch is undoubtedly a step in the right direction.

You may be wondering what makes GPS watches any better than other golf tools, such as laser rangefinders and phone apps.

Well, to start, these devices give you a convenient option for course measurement, detailing vital course information right from your wrist, and without the need for updates and subscription fees like you would need with a phone app. These watches even have the capability to measure speed and playtime, and a few of them are even able to keep track of score for you, making them even more convenient.

Buying Factors for Best Golf GPS Watches

There are a ton of these GPS watches that are available on the market today. Many of these watches come with a variety of different prices and extra features. For that reason it is important to know what to look for before buying any of the products.

Basic Features

When buying a watch, you will want one that has at least the basic features, such as distance to the green, as a standard. Every one of these watches should at least be able to give you accurate yardage to hazards and other landmarks around the course, and if they can't so at least that, then you should pass on it.

Advanced Features

To go along with the above, you may want to look for a watch that has special features you may like, such as blu-tooth or score card. These features are not needed, however, and can sometimes cost more, so it is really up to the player if they want these things with their watch.

Ease of Use

You will also want a watch that is easy to use, so you are not fiddling around with various switches and other things while in the middle of play. If you have to stop dead during your game just so you can figure out which switch does what on your watch, then chances are that it is not the watch for you.

Battery Life

It probably is a given, but when you buy a GPS watch, you are going to want one that has good battery life. Nothing would be worse than being in the middle of the game and having your watch go out on you, so you will want a watch with a battery that can last you from the first tee to the eighteenth hole.

Maps

Maps for courses should come pre-loaded on your watch, but seeing as you never know what course you'll be playing on next, you will want a watch that has as many courses loaded as possible. This way, no matter where you play, your watch can likely provide you with an accurate representation of the course you are on.

Subscription Fees

Finally, be wary of watches that make you pay a subscription fee to use them. These watches should come with all their features and unlimited use at the time of purchase, so you should never have to pay monthly to use them.

It used to be that the two worlds of technology and sports couldn't be further apart. One of them was a trial of athleticism and endurance, the other an experiment of science and wires, both as different as could be from the other.

This is not the case anymore, as technology has helped to make advancements through unique equipment in the sports world. Of all the sports that have benefited from technological advancements, the equipment and devices made for the game of golf are probably the most innovative.

For golf, we have everything from GPS to simulations that have helped us improve our game in several ways. Today we will be looking at one of those devices with the Golf Launch Monitor.

Our Best Golf Launch Monitor Pick: Voice Caddie SC 200

best portable golf launch monitors

Like all Voice Caddie products, the SC 200 is easy to set up with just only a few buttons to press. It comes with practice, target and even a random mode to keep you on your toes, plus many more features not previously on the SC 100. It is one of the, if not, most technologically advanced portable golf monitors in the market in this price range.

These monitors are unique devices that uses Doppler radar, the same kind of radar used to predict weather, to help with your golf shots. It does this by reading your swings and provides you with an accurate representation of your swing speed, distance, power, etc. all based on what the radar picks up.

While there are not very many of these items on the market, some things should still be taken into consideration before buying these golf launch monitors.

Buying Factors for Best Portable Golf Launch Monitors

Price

For starters, one should look at the price of these items when buying them. These monitors are not cheap, ranging in price anywhere from $200 to $1000 dollars, with more expensive "professional" monitors being available as well, so you will want to buy a monitor in a price range you are comfortable with.

Seeing as these monitors are generally expensive, they may not be for everyone. If you don't see these items as something you need, or if you don't head out to the course enough to use one, you may well want to save your cash and pass on a golf launch monitor.

Ease of Use

Should you find that one of these monitors are right up your alley, then you will want to find one that is easy enough to set up and use. Some of these monitors have many functions that can become overwhelming and confusing, so you will want a monitor that makes use simple enough for you.

Battery

And finally, as with any electronic device these days, you will want something that has a good battery life. Seeing as a lot of these monitors run on 9-Volt batteries, they can become quite pricey if they quickly suck the life out of said batteries, so you will want a monitor that can last awhile.

Best Portable Golf Launch Monitors

As stated before, there really are not too many of these monitors available on the market today, so instead of the usual item review, we will be looking at two of the best brand names in particular, the Voice Caddie and Earnest Sports. We will take a look at a few of each's best models, as well as what makes each of these models great in their own right, all in the effort of helping you make your golf monitor purchase.

The Voice Caddy SC 100 and SC 200

Our first set of monitors today, the SC 100 and SC 200, come to us courtesy of the fine folks at Voice Caddie. And with both the SC 100 and SC 200, you will be sure to get a quality golf launch monitor.

No matter which monitor you choose, the SC 100 or the SC 200, you will get many features that are essential to helping your golf game. This includes both the ability to tell how hard you hit the ball, or "Smash Factor", as well as the speed in which your ball travels.

golf launch monitor reviews

Both devices are also really easy to set up and use, with player being able to use the devices simply by setting them up where they need them and hitting a few buttons. The SC 100 and 200 are also both easy to adjust on the fly as well, as both monitors come with a remote control for easy operation that doesn't require you to constantly bend over whenever you need to change something on the monitor.

Click here to see more about the SC 200.

Unique to the newer SC 200 model of Voice Caddie monitor are several features that the 100 lacks. This includes things such as carry distance for your shot, loft angle selection, barometric pressure calibration, and many others that make the 200 one of the most technologically advanced launch monitors on the market.

That isn't to say that the SC 100 does not have its own appeal, including its more affordable price point, which is over $150 dollars cheaper than the SC 200. And for the price that you are paying, you get several unique modes, such as practice, target mode, and even a random mode that will always keep golfers on their toes, all without the need for any additional devices such as smart phones.

Click here to see more about the SC 100.

What it all boils down to at the end of the day is what kind of golfer you may be. If you have the cash and want a monitor that can break down several aspects of your game, then the SC 200 is the way to go. Should you want modes that allow you to improve single aspects of your game, and without the need for a phone or blu-tooth connection, then you will certainly want to pick up the SC 100.

Either way you go, you are sure to get a premium golf launch monitor that gives you everything a golfer could want and then some. The moral of the story is this: if you buy a Voice Caddie product, you are going to be satisfied.

Ernest Sports ES 12 and ES 14

Ernest Sports brings us our final launch monitor for today with the ES 12 and the newer ES 14. And just like the Voice Caddie products, both the ES 12 and the 14 are so similar, and yet so different.

Both of these products are very easy to set up and use, with either of them being ready for use in a matter of minutes. Adding to the speed of these monitors is how quickly you see results, as the ES 12 and ES 14 are able to give you instant feedback on your swings, letting you analyze your shots faster.

portable golf launch monitor reviews

Both the ES 12 and 14 can also be paired with a smart device, such as an iPhone, to provide even more feedback on your game and to even save records from your golf session. And these monitors do this while looking great, as both monitors are beautifully designed with a cool, stylish look.

If you are a golfer on a budget, the ES 12 is the perfect choice for you, as the monitor come up to around $180 dollars, making the ES 12 one of the most affordable launch monitors available today. When linked to a smart device, the ES 12 also provides an interesting way to improve your golf game, featuring a variety of golf challenges to increase your skill while having fun.

Click here to see more about the ES 12.

In contrast, the ES 14 is one of the more expensive monitors available at almost $500 dollars, but with that price you get a wide array of features such as launch angle projection, ball speed, spin, and much more. And if you are golfer that may have some issues seeing the ES 14's digital display, the monitor also includes audio feedback, which is great for golfer whose eyesight may be starting to fail.

While the ES 14 is obviously the more expensive monitor of the two, it is also the best choice for golfers who need more game feedback or need something other than visual feedback on their shots. But if price is an issue, then you can get great speed and distance feedback and some fun challenges at a better price with the ES 12.

Ernest Sports proves with these two products that they can provide golfers with amazing technology. Whether you choose to go with the ES 12 or the ES 14, you know that you will be getting some of the best golf launch monitors that money can buy.

And with that we conclude today's reviews. Much like the world of golf, the world of technology is constantly changing, and with these best golf launch monitors at your side, you can make sure that you are at the forefront of both. We will see you next time!
