TaylorMade Purelite Stand Bags

To kick off the list today, we are taking a look at the TaylorMade Purelite Stand Bag, which is a perfect bag for those golfers who prefer to have their clubs always at their side while on the course. This is made easy with the Purelite, too, thanks to this bags many features.

To start is the “anti-split” stand system that the Purelite uses when propped up. This balancing system allows your bag to stand strong on any surface, preventing any sort of tumbling or falling that could damage your equipment.

Should you find yourself playing in the rain or other wet conditions, the Purelite covers all possible bases for you, coming included with a rain hood, towel loop, and a holder for an umbrella.

Should you be a golfer that is concerned about prices, you will be happy to know that the Purelite is one of TaylorMade's cheapest offerings, coming up to just over $100 as of this writing.

One issue that holds this bag back from perfection is the weight of the bag. While not overly heavy, being advertised at around 6 pounds, the bag does seem a bit on the hefty side for a bag that is designed to be carried and stood up.

The TaylorMade Purelite may not be TaylorMade's greatest offering, but it is still a really good bag that offers club protection at a value price.

Things We Liked

  • Great value
  • Anti-split stand system for good stability

Things We Didn't Like

  • Heavy for it's purpose

TaylorMade TourLite Stand Bag

As you can tell from the Purelite bag in the previous entry, TaylorMade knows how to make stand bags. Another great example of their well-made stand bags is known as the TourLite bag.

The TourLite is designed from top to bottom to protect your clubs, accessories, and all your other golf gear thanks to the bag's crush-resistant design. This design keeps your bag from becoming compressed, preventing damage of any kind to your gear.

When carrying the bag around the golf course, you can do so in comfort thanks to the bag's hip cushion, which is molded to easily and comfortably carry the bag. If you are looking for pockets for all your gear, the TaylorMade TourLite provides you with many different pockets for everything from valuables to a score card slot, among others.

If we have to knock anything about this bag, it would be the four-way separate for your golf clubs. With only four slots for your clubs, everything can tend to knock together when the bag is jostled, which can in extreme cases cause damage to your clubs.

This issue is easy to overlook, however, and shouldn't be something most people would worry about. The TourLite is yet another stand bag from TaylorMade that can “stand” up against extreme conditions.

Things We Liked

  • Crush-resistant construction
  • Ergonomically molded hip pad for comfort
  • Only 3.9 lb

Things We Didn't Like

  • Only 4-way top

TaylorMade 2017 Flextech Stand Bag

One more time we delve into the world of TaylorMade stand designed bags, this time with one of TaylorMade's newest models, the Flextech. As you might expect with something that is brand new, the Flextech features a lot of the most advanced features for stand bags.

One of these advanced features is the bag’s namesake, with the “Flextech Stand System”. This stand system allows for quick and smooth release of the bags stand legs, and also prevents the legs from getting caught on the back when extending out. This makes standing the bag on the ground quick and hassle free.

Carrying around the bag is a cinch as well, thanks to the bags comfortable dual density straps, as well as the contoured hip pad featured in the TourLite. For those that want style options, the Flextech comes in a range of colors, and even options for custom embroidery on the ball pocket of the bag.

With the bag being fairly new, there hasn't been any user complaints to speak of, and for our money everything about the bag screams value. If you want to see everything that the Flextech has to offer, you will just have to check it out for yourself.

Things We Liked

  • Flextech Stand system for quick and smooth release
  • Comfortable dual density straps

Things We Didn't Like

  • Only 5-way

TaylorMade Tour Golf Bag

Moving on to larger cart bags now, we have the TaylorMade Tour Golf Bag. With a large base and big pockets, this bag is a great choice for those with a lot of gear to cart around the golf course.

The first thing you may notice about this bag is the rather high price tag that comes with it. At around the $250 mark, there is a hefty price to pay for this hefty bag, which may immediately turn off some people.

Should you decide to pay this price, however, then you will get a bag that is stronger than most other bags around. This is thanks to the sturdy construction and strong material that the bag is created with, which prevents most damage that could possibly come the bag's way.

The 6-way, velour lined top of the Tour bag makes it so you can store your clubs easily inside the bag while also helping to protect your clubs from damage. The Tour bag also comes with 12 pockets for all your gear, rangefinder, valuables, and pretty much anything else you can think of... unfortunately, however, none of these pockets are lined to keep your beverages cool.

Not without its oversights, there is a lot to appreciate about the Tour bag. From the large and professional looking design, to tons of pockets and protection features, there is a lot to love about the TaylorMade Tour Golf Bag.

Things We Liked

  • Sturdy construction & strong material
  • 12 total pockets for everything

Things We Didn't Like

  • Relatively expensive

TaylorMade Catalina Cart Bag

Our final bag for today is yet another cart bag, but it is also one of the most popular bags produced by TaylorMade: The Catalina Cart Bag.

Featuring a grab handle for both the base and top of the bag, moving the back to and from the trunk of your car to the back of your golf cart is a simple task. Should you prefer to use a push cart while on the golf course, the Catalina can easily attach to it, allowing you to push your clubs from hole to hole.

Should you wish to add a personal touch to your bag, the ball pocket on the bag can be easily removed, allowing for custom embroidery. Also, thanks to the large shoulder strap on the bag, the Catalina can be easily carried around should you choose to do so.

This bag does come with a number of issues unfortunately. These issues include some fragile zippers that can sometimes break off, to the fact that the bag sometimes has issues standing on its own inside a golf cart.

While it isn't without it's issues, the bag is a very reliable option for those looking to buy a golf cart bag. The Catalina is an easily manageable bag that any golfer would be happy to own.

Things We Liked

  • Integrated grab handles for easy transportation
  • Large shoulder strap for easy carry

Things We Didn't Like

  • Some issues standing on its own

Buying Factors for Best TaylorMade Golf Bags

Stand Bag or Carry Bag?

If you have been golfing for a long time, chances are you know what you want out of a golf bag already and the various designs they can come in. As seen above, TaylorMade makes a lot of options for golfers in terms of two of these designs: Stand bags and Cart bags.

Golfers who don't want to carry a lot of gear on their shoulder or just likes the convenience provided by larger bags would likely want a cart bag. While TaylorMade certainly has options in this area, the brand's cart bags are a little bit basic, and do have a few flaws that may turn off golfers.

If you want a stand bag, however, TaylorMade provides many quality options that are both light in weight and sturdy. While the brand's cart bags are by no means terrible, TaylorMade makes some of the best stand bags available, making them a great brand choice for those looking for that particular type of bag.

What Makes TaylorMade Unique?

TaylorMade bags, at a glance, don't seem to be the most feature rich of golf bags in comparison to some other brands, lacking certain pockets or extra club dividers that you may get elsewhere. So what makes TaylorMade stand out?

In this case, construction is the name of the game. Outside of one exception in the Catalina, the majority of TaylorMade bags are very resistant to damage, and can protect your clubs against the harshest of treatments.

While you may not always get your beverage pocket or putter well with TaylorMade, you will almost always get a bag that is long lasting or can protect your clubs from nearly everything. If this kind of protection is appealing to you, you can't go wrong with TaylorMade.
