Overview of Golf Bags

But with so many types of golf bags available, are you confused as to which one you should buy? We understand, that's why we wrote these in-depth golf bag reviews. There are golf bags that suit the pros, the casual players, the business partners, from young to old, from male to female.

Don’t worry. Finding the best golf bag for you is easy once you know what you are looking for and it is just a matter of learning the different types of bags, features, and reading a few golf bag reviews.

To help you out, we have made this list today, reviewing some of the best golf bags that money can buy. We do this in the hope that you can find the best golf bag, at the best value, for your needs.

Before we get started, here is a quick summary of the different types of golf bags that you could buy:

  • Cart Golf Bags

The same kind of bag you may see the pros use on TV, the cart golf bags are what they sound like, used with a golf cart or a push/pull cart. They are usually the heaviest golf bags, but they also have most of the bells and whistles you would expect from a golf bag. The higher end cart golf bags have individual full length dividers to keep clubs separated and for easy selection.

  • Stand Golf Bags

The stand golf bags can be carried or used with a cart. They have two retractable legs to keep them off the ground, therefore keeping your bag clean and dry. As some golfers prefer to carry their bags, these bags are lighter than cart golf bags and many come with double straps for a more evenly distributed weight across the back.

  • Carry Golf Bags

As the name suggests, carry golf bags are designed for the golfers who prefer to walk the course while carrying their equipment. These bags are made to be lighter and easier to carry around, but they also sometimes lack some of the things you may get with cart bags. That said, should you get tired of carrying your equipment, a lot of these also come with legs so they can stand on the ground.

  • Sunday Golf Bags

Sunday golf bags are for those golfers who want an even lighter bag, or may not even have a full set of clubs to carry in bigger bags. They are meant for the kind of golfer who only golfs occasionally and has a set of clubs that reflects that. These bags have fewer pockets and dividers, and some even do away with the stand to keep the weight down. To help with transporting the bags around, all Sunday bags come with straps for easy carrying.

  • Travel Golf Bags

A travel golf bag works as a cover/protection for your clubs when you travel abroad. They are large enough to cover your golf bag and firm enough to protect your club heads. Most come with luggage-style wheels for easy transportation in the airport, but if you prefer, they also come with handles for easy carriage. Also included are extra pockets for your shoes and other gears.

In this article, we'll cover the overall best golf bags which includes stand and cart bags.

Best Golf Bags Reviews 2017

Affinity ZLS Stand Bag

Our first bag is the Affinity ZLS Stand Bag, which is a bag that is not only durable, but affordable as well.

At just around $80 dollars, making it one of the most affordable bags around, the ZLS give you more than your money's worth.

For this amazing price, you will get all the features that you are looking for in a golf bag.

This includes a six-way top that will help to separate your clubs, four total pockets for your balls and other accessories, and even multiple colors so every golfer will be able to find a style that suits them best.

Due to the simple, but functional design, it is incredibly light and can be easily carried around the course all day long with its carry strap. When you’re taking a shot, simply flick out the integrated stand, and the bag will effortlessly remain stationary free-standing, allowing you to simply select a club and take your shot without worrying about your bag becoming all dirty from lying on the turf

The only drawback, or so it seems, is that the bag is smaller than advertised, meaning your clubs are more closely packed together than you may want. That said, this also makes the bag great for travel, as it helps to keeps your gear compact, making it fit easily under a bus or plane.

With so much value in such a cheap package, it's hard to say no to the ZLS. If you are a golfer on a budget or on the go, this is the perfect golf bag for you.

What We Liked

  • Lightweight
  • Comfortable to carry around
  • Very affordable

What We Didn't Like

  • Might be too small/narrow for some

TaylorMade Tourlite Stand Bag

If you are looking to get a slightly more "fancy" bag, then our next bag is for you. From the golf experts at TaylorMade, the Tourlite Stand Bag is a bag packed to the brim with the stuff that golfers love.

Aimed towards people who may be more avid golfers, the TaylorMade Tourlite Stand Bag, features a luxurious velour lined pocket for valuables such as money and your cell phone.

That isn't the only pocket either, as there is also a beverage pocket, a scorecard holder, a hip pad for ease of use, an umbrella sleeve, a pen/pencil holder, a garment pocket, an accessory pocket, and ball and tee pockets.

As you can see, there is no shortage of storage compartments within this golf bag, making you feel like the Macguyver of the golf course. To add to the appeal of this bag, the Tourlite is also available in four different color combinations, allowing golfers to play in style.

This bag does tend to run a bit expensive and a bit on the bulky side due to all the pockets. This makes it a hard suggestion for those golfers who have little space and their house and too much space in their wallets.

This price can be justified just by how much storage you get with this bag. If you ever wanted a golf bag that last long and can carry just about everything in your house, then you will love the TaylorMade Tourlite.

Callaway Hyper-Lite 5 Golf Stand Bag

Another big name in the world of golf is the Callaway brand.

And as you would expect from a professional grade golfing brand such as Callaway, they have done an excellent job creating the ultimate, lightweight, free-standing golf bag with their Hyper-Lite 5.

Within the main compartment of the Hyper-Lite 5 is a seven-way divider system that allows you to keep clubs separated and organized.

This not only helps you when finding the clubs you need, but it helps prevent paint chipping, and keeps the clubs looking new for longer.

The base of the bag makes a huge amount of contact with the turf, which helps to keep your bag nice and sturdy when standing on its legs. The Hyper-Lite also has water resistant pockets, which helps to keep your equipment and accessories dry should you find yourself caught in a rainstorm.

The cloth lining of the Hyper-Lite is not as high grade as the rest of the bag, however. Some users of the bag have had issues with the cloth lining ripping after a few uses, while others have even had issue with it catching on the clubs.

This problem has not affected many, however, and should not deter you from buying what is otherwise a great bag with the Callaway Hyper-Lite 5. And the bag also comes with a bottle opener, and if that doesn't sell you on this bag, I don't know what will.

What We Liked

  • Comfortable strap with soft mesh padding
  • Increased turf contact for improved stablity
  • Lightweight and water resistant

What We Didn't Like

  • Cloth lining is not as high grade

Datrek Lite Ride Cart Bag

After our last two golf bags, which have come courtesy of some major golf names, you may be looking at the Datrek Lite Rider Cart Bag and be wondering what it has to offer.

Well, let me tell you right now, this bag has more than enough to compete with the big boys.

Within the main compartment is a 14-way divider, which gives golfers enough space for nearly every individual club in their bag. This divider makes it easy to find clubs, as well as keeping your clubs from colliding with each other, and this means no more paint chips or scratches.

The Datrek Lite Ride Cart Bag is also available in 11 various color combinations, ensuring you can find one to match the rest of your golfing gear. In terms of storage, 7 various pockets cover all your storage needs with plenty of space to spare, with a large, fleece lined valuables pocket as well as a large ball pocket.

In terms of convenience, the bag also comes with an umbrella holder, which can be great on rainy days. Problem with this is that the umbrella holder is somewhat poorly made, with this portion of the bag being susceptible to breaking easily.

This is just one drawback of an otherwise great golf bag. Datrek may not have the branding power of some of the others on this list, but it very well can hold its own.

Callaway Org 14 Golf Cart Bag

Our last bag is yet another golf bag from the guys at Callaway. And with an attractive design, and a choice between 3 colours combinations, the Callaway Org 14 is prepared for anything you can throw at it.

The Org 14 has 14, different length dividers, providing you with many different ways to organize and store your clubs, which is great if you are like me and have a touch of OCD.

Callaway 2015 Org 14 Golf Cart Bag

For storage, the Callaway Org 14 has a grand total of seventeen pockets, from thermal lined pockets, GPS pockets, ball pockets, mesh pockets and accessory pockets, giving golfers room for nearly everything they may have on them.

The Org 14 is a easy to use, thanks to the molded handles, which make transportation a breeze, even with the heaviest clubs. For maximum versatility, the base of this golf bag is also designed to work with the majority of golf push carts, allowing you to not have to carry the bag around. Although, if you do wish to, its comfort tech single strap makes it one of the best carry golf bags as well.

An umbrella holder is integrated into the design, making the Callaway Org 14 prepared for anything the weather can throw at it.

The bag's only negative is that the carry straps can sometimes come loose or even break. This issue is minor, however, as it is not something that has happened to many golfers, myself included.

There is a reason Callaway is such a big name in golf, and they prove it with this golf bag. If you love to stay neat and organized, the Org 14 will give you everything you need, and then some.

What We Liked

  • MANY pockets
  • Ergonomic design
  • Great value for money

What We Didn't Like

  • Customers have commented it feels "thin"
